How to get the number of securities in a market?

Hello, I want to display a percentage value, but need to know the number of securities that are currently in a market (i.e. How many stocks are on the NYSE and NASDAQ?). I know that both are about 3,000 and I have currently hard-coded this value in my script. However, it would be nice to use a value that is determined dynamically so when the number changes, my percentage will be accurate. I am looking for this value on NYSE and NASDAQ, and would really appreciate your help. Thank you for your time and …
