You can use two video outputs from each card. Yes, you need two PCIEx16 slots for four monitors.

It looks like the heatsink takes an extra slot is what I meant. One card = 2 slots.

can't you find your monitors on ebay ?

Maybe, but why on earth would I do this. Replace monitors in order to get a video card which I am looking to only spend less than $100 on. Makes no sense.

These adapters with passive cooling should be capable of feeding 4 DVI monitors:

(1) A pair of nVidia NVS 295 cards (each of them supports two monitors up to 2560 x 1600) With a pair you can connect 4 DVI monitors via DisplayPort to DVI-D adapters.

Quadro NVS 295

(2) ATI FirePro 2460 Multi-View

According to the specifications it can either supply 4 Displayport or 4 DVI monitors with resolutions up to 2560 x 1600.

ATI FirePro? 2460 Multi-View Professional Graphics

Both alternatives will cost you around $ 250, but you can later use them for Displayport monitors as well.

I ended up buying two PNY NVS 295 dual port, passive/fanless cards -- grand total was $75 shipped to my door for both.

Will update in a week or two when I get and install them.

That's what came in my Dell T3500 ex works. They drive 4x Philips 19" LCDs. Over the past 3 years I had to replace one of the monitors but otherwise no issues.

FWIW there is a NVS 300 available now, so the '295s are a steal as you found out.

Yup - ebay. Pulls. But not expecting any issues. Can't go wrong for less than $40 per card shipped. I am hoping these will quiet down my case a little.

That is really cheap. About one third of the price they sold a few months ago.

Yes, one of them was $21 shipped on ebay, the other $50. Both have DOA return policy, so I feel good about the purchase.

Got one of the cards today. It was the $16 one plus $4.99 shipping. It is missing the two displayport -> dvi cable dongles. I went back and read description, it doesn't say they are included so my bad. So, ordered two dongles at 4.99/ea shipped ($10 total) delaying me a few days. The other card definitely has the dongles in it and should be here tomorrow or next day.

am curious about your results, have you put them in your pc yet?

A question to all is why, besides price, wouldn't you take 1 or 2 passive AMD Radeon 6450 's ?
