Those are DVI.

You could go for the NVS 295 which is at least DisplayPort, and around $20 on ebay. But having gone both routes in the past, I experienced problems when running more than 4 monitors with this config (more than two cards). I've had zero problems with the FirePro 2460's.

Not everyone runs display port. You can run a NVS 420 for a quad display port card. Just listing other options that I use.

I ran 3 NVS 290s for 2-3 years with no issues.

Hi everyone, I am running a NVS 295 and NVS 290; when the mouse goes to the monitors connected to the 290 the mouse moves slower, kind of like it is moving through mud. I have no idea what this could be, does anyone else have a problem like this or know of a solution?

My computer is fast, i5 2500, 8GB Ram, I may upgrade to 16 but I don't think that would be the issue here.

I appreciate any help.

Just keep in mind - I paid something like $175 for two (total price) FirePro 2460's off ebay. Right now it looks like they are more like $99/ea, but still - 8 ports total, passive card, at significant savings over the W600.

Mike

Mike,

Just wanted to thank you for telling me about the FirePro 2460. I have one in my rig running 4 DisplayPort monitors. Works like a charm.

That's strange since the drivers are the same. Do you have the latest drivers?
Have you tried to disconnect and reconnect the cards? Did you try connect the 290 in the 295 slot and the 290 in the 295 slot? Did you try only with one card at a time to see if that slowness is showed? Did you try changing the cables?

That sounds like driver issues but...

I will re check the drivers, I had the 295 first and everything worked perfect, I only had a free PCI Express X 1 so I can't switch them, the 295 uses display port and the 290 uses DVI, I am using adapters on both.

Thanks for the answers I will check the drivers and unplug and re plug also.

So one is PCIe X16 and the other PCIe X1? Maybe that's the problem, not the cards themselves but the motherboard. The MB might not be managing both cards correctly.
I had similar problem years ago with an older PC where I had one PCIex16 card and added a Matrox PCI card. The screens connected to the Matrox had a terrible image.

That is probably the issue because the drivers are up to date. I have been looking at the NVS 420 or the ATI mentioned earlier in this thread.

I believe that (420) is a better solution.

I have four 290 cards, all on PCIe slots and never had any problems with them, so I believe it might be a problem of the MB managing the cards using different slots.
