The CPU is definitely way too warm, this is your main problem.

This could have the following reasons:
1. the cooler is the wrong one for your socket/CPU
2. the cooler isn't running
3. the cooler is not properly installed (have you used thermal paste?)
4. the CPU is not too warm and the temp sensor gives wrong temps (rather unlikely)
5. you run your computer in a sauna

Have you installed the AI suite (the software that came with the MoBo)? What do the temps there say? Have a look at the sensor recorder.

After we figured this problem out, we will have a look at the gpu problems.

That is way too hot, 45-55 C would be ok for idle.

I apologize, but I really like my setup.

4 - 21"
2 - 17"
2 - 15"

Those 15" are really old but still working

Hi, I believe multiple monitors are able to better provide the trader with a holistic view of the market than using one or two monitors. Personally I did not feel "in tune" with the market or the instruments I was trading using 2-4 monitors. Possibly like a pilot who is flying blind by only being able to see half of the instrument panel....

Here are two pictures of the setup.

1. Complete setup

Each monitor is dedicated to a single instrument with exactly the same charts and indicators. This enables consistent evaluation on a relative basis. ATM strategies relevant to each instrument are in operation 24/7.

1. Top left - 6E
2. Bottom Left - Market internals, NYSE tick, News alerts, Trading portal (DX charts behind internals)
3 Top Inside Left = ES
4. Bottom Inside Left - TF
5. Top Inside Right - FDAX
6. Bottom Inside Right - NQ
7. Top Right - GC
8 Bottom Right - CL

2. Futures Equities

The 4 inside screens are dedicated to futures equities only. The advantage is trades on any futures equities instrument will not be considered without a detailed analysis of the other instruments. Having dedicated screens like this enables the trader to perform the evaluation quickly without distraction. This approach has kept me out of countless losing trades.

If people are considering this type of setup and are afraid of the cost it is fairly inexpensive relative to the benefits in my opinion. My system is nothing great, an older alienware gaming quad core I had lying around, 8gb of 1066 RAM, a few video cards (I use 2 x 512gb gaming cards and a single multi-head card, make sure you have enough PCIe slots) these 8 x 24" HD samsung monitors are $200 each. I got the stands off ebay at 50% discount.

The system has been very stable from a hardware perspective without any performance issues. Any performance issues have been caused by indicators.

The only question mark over the whole thing is I'm looking at bringing my equities trading from my other PC/other systems into this system/ninja trader and am unsure how this will impact hardware and particularly memory resources. My trading is 80% stocks and 20% futures so could be an issue.

Cheers
DJ

Cheers DJ, nice setup.

I haven't had a chance to make my six monitor setup "pretty", but here is a raw shot.

I've just built a new i7-2600k:
- i7 2600k overclocked to 5.0ghz
- corsair h100
- 32gb ddr3-2400
- 2x256gb crucial m4 raid 0
- radeon hd 7870 eyefinity 6
- 6 dell u2412m monitors
- hex tyke supply stand (alignment not great, as you can see)

32GB of RAM? DAMN!!! That's a lot of RAM!!!!

I think you need to invest in a new desk. That's starting to get really small for all those screens.

Yup you are right, but it is part of a big office suite, credenza, laterals, hutch... but if I ever want to go to an eight monitor setup like DJ, I will have to buy a new desk
