I know there are a few *nix guys here. I need to make a backup of _only_ the file/directory permissions, not the content of files, and need a way to restore said permissions as well. It's nested for thousands of files and hundreds of directories so a script is required.
Can anyone think of a way to do this? (sam?)
In the event a restore is needed, I need to be able to have the restore command apply permissions to existing files.
Again, I don't want to backup data, just permissions.
