Wasn't sure where to post this but thought I'd try here first. I'd like to record a trading chatroom (usually about 2 hours) each morning while I'm at work. I'm just a member of the room, not a moderator or the owner. Would need to record video and audio and I'll be able to start and stop it myself from my work office. Any suggestions on which program (free or low cost hopefully) might work best?
Thanks

OBS Studio will definitely meet your needs. The latest version added a "pause" feature so instead of recording several video files you can just pause and resume as you please.

About recording the chatroom you have the option with OBS to either capture your display or just any window (your browser or app).

You can use OBS remote plugin for remote control.

I use a free program called Flashback Express. Easy to use. They also have a Flashback Pro app if you want to do editing.

This is one I use for purposes such as yours

It's called OBS studio and, while its interface can be a bit overwhelming at first, it's free and flexible enough to suit most people's needs.

I second that. Within 15mins you'd get around to it though.

It is free. https://www.flashbackrecorder.com/express/

Features that I like:
1. May record up to 60 fps.
2. Has a scheduler.
3. Allows tagging of any scene.

I've used all the software mentioned above, I find Flashback Express really easy to use.

Would use FlashBack Express. You can set your recording start and stop times in advance so no need to try to do this remotely from your office etc. Software is free.

I second Loom for what you describe. It's relatively lightweight and free.

OBS is extremely complicated to get going with unless you have a solid understanding of video production (It stands for Open Broadcast Studio and that's what it is designed to emulate).

Programs like Camtasia and Screenflow are much heavier than what you need since you just want to do a long recording, not make extensive edits after the fact.

For recording a multi-hour screencast for free, you really can't beat loom.

ZS Soft Screen recorder is very user friendly and intuitive. Only $39 for 1 computer.

As you can see there are many options. The tool I use is Movavi Screen Recorder, not free, but not expensive either. You can set multiple tasks/time periods start and stop in either full screen or set area so that you limit the amount of storage used.
