I’ve been using computers for 40 years, but it’s been over a decade since I’ve bought a windows PC. I’m a Mac guy at home.

I need help configuring and purchasing a PC for trading. I would like to have the capability for at least six’s 4K monitors, and I would never want the PC to be the limiting factor for any processing or trading speed / response.

I’m a pretty simple discretionary trader, maybe 3 charts in NT 7 or 8 open at any given time, a few websites, nothing too fancy.

I would like a SSD and regular 2TB hard drive, at least 32 GB of RAM, but I get quickly overwhelmed with configuring a motherboard and video cards. I would like a solid sound system (Dolby 7.1?), WiFi card, and ???

I don’t mind spending money, just don’t want to waste any either.

I tried googling but quickly became overwhelmed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Any gaming pc should give you more than enough power for trading, the trick is trying to drive 6 4k monitors. I use an MSI laptop that is limited to running 2 4k monitors.

I will probably never need 6 monitors, but I want the equipment to be capable if I ever decide I want six.

I have 4HD monitors which two of them I use two usb video adaptors. It works great for me, not scalper though so speed is of no consequence to me

I have tried 4K monitors. They don't work well with some of the most common trading software like tradestation, NT7, TOS. I would stick with 1080p screens which will also cost less.

Here are better machines with faster processor and twice the RAM at a lower price. And you can return locally if you don't like it.

It has 2 DPs which will support 6 Monitors using MST hubs.

Any pre-built PC will not have the capacity for 6 monitors. It seems you dont want to build one yourself but you can pay someone to build it for you.

So my suggestion is that you go to the Microcenter on S Rice Ave off of Westpark Dr.. Talk to one of those guys in the build your PC section (they are towards the back of the store). They will pick all the parts for you based on your needs. After that, you pay them $150 or so I think to build it for you and you pick it up a few days later.

This way, you dont compromise on anything and get what you want.

I have purchased 3 builds from Microcenter. They are a better shop than Frys for computers.

Just a piece of advice - you really do not need support for 6 monitors. 3 is enough. If you want more screen - consider 2 or 3 large (40 - 43 inch) 4K monitors or just 2 of these - Samsung LC49HG90 49" Ultra-wide Curved HDR QLED Monitor w/ AMD FreeSync LC49HG90DMNXZA - Micro Center, if you dont mind spending the money. I have 3 40" 4K monitors and its literally like having 12 of those 22-24" monitors. One 4K monitor gives you the screen real estate of 4 1080p monitors but they need to be large enough so that everything is not squished into a small screen.

Hope this helps.
