Hi All, anybody trading with the latest AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 CPU's.

Anybody here done a comparison between i7 - Xeon - Ryzen?

Is ECC memory really needed for Day Trading the Futures?

I am sure this will create some excitement.

@Trad3r, check here for example.

ECC RAM is not mandatory on a desktop if you buy the chips from a good brand.

I have 3 machines.
Two are high end I7, 12 core and 20 core, one is the previous Vishera

The problem with the AMD is the heat creation, i have all the problems in the world of
cooling it down even with a big water cooler radiator and 3 fans, it tends to heat too fast
when doing heavy number crunching...

I second @sam028 on the RAM quality...

None of those systems have every crashed and they are stable...

The other thing with these AMD processors is the single-thread performance which is not great compared to the i7. But good price/performance ratio.
But IMHO the last "better than Intel" AMD processors were the first Opteron generation, 2005/2006...

For purely trading any of the these CPU's works just fine. I went to a 1700x primarily for backtesting, and faster loading of tick replay indicators. Works well, at least compared to my old Ivybridge CPU.
