Here are some pics of the Samsung JU6700 48"

I would not consider the 48" personally. 40" should be the sweet spot when sitting 2 feet from the monitor.

Well. The model above does not have a DP so you are forced to run at 30hz. I think it's an issue with trying to use HDTVs as monitors. They normally don't have DPs. At least, it was what a salesman from Microcenter told me. He recommended to go for monitors and not HDTVs.

Generally true. But in this particular case with this particular Samsung panel, it would make good desktop use (at least for traders). You will of course run it at 60hz, not 30hz, unless you have the wrong video card (you need HDMI 2.0).

40" 4K monitors are new, but the general consensus is that they are the ideal size for desktop use because they do not require DPI scaling at 2-3' distance, unlike smaller 4K monitors.

I am having trouble finding any high end GPU's with HDMI 2.0 and 2xHDMI ports, so I could power two of the Samsung monitors with one GPU without worrying about adapters.

I recently bought a bunch of magazines about video cards. I filtered them now to see if there would be one with two HDMI 2.0 connections. Unfortunately none.

I think I read somewhere that the reason GPUs don't support 2x HDMI is because HDMI is sound & audio, and hence to support 2x HDMI they would need 2 different sound outputs.

My apologies, I read "2x HDMI" in your reply and my brain processed as "HDMI 2.0" and I now realize you were talking about 2 HDMI ports. Oops!

Some older non-reference GPUs support 2 x HDMI but again it should be HDMI1.X. E.g. non-reference GTX750/750Ti. I guess the cheapest solution for getting 2 x HDMI2.0 now would be buying 2 X GTX960 series. Absolutely have no idea about ATI cards though. Re screens - I'm closely watching LG 34" curved series now. Would buy a bunch of them once prices dip here in EU (still around EU900 - quite expensive).

I just ordered a JU6700 40". Doing only one this month, to make sure I don't have customs issues.

Will order second one before I go on vacation end of May.

Will bring back new video cards, I guess two 980's, with me on plane after vacation.

Hoping for good things. All reviews say yes so far.

Will need a new desk...

Great idea, hope you will have them soon on your desk !

About the video cards, two GTX 960 will be more than sufficient unless you want to do some hardcore gaming….
