I have been recording with OBS but my files are huge but great quality. Anyone have any software and settings that they use to compress their files for upload? windows movie maker has very limited capabilities.

I use BBFlashback. Being being the great firewall means i need smaller files. It lets me pick the file type at least. Will try and see if there is anyway to compress and upload and get back to you, but from memory its only file types that you can choose. I use the paid version, not even sure what the free version is capable of really.

Cheers,

XS

In the past, I have been able to record my entire desktop, which is contained on two screens, but the free software I was using kept having issues. I downloaded a free trial of Action! (game recorder software) as I need to make sure I get all the action on the DOM. I cannot get the entire desktop.

Any advice?

I need a program that can do this and not drag on the cpu slowing things down

@Hinneni

I don't know what software did you use but I used Camstudio for multiple screen recording in the past. Did never have any problem with it.

I was using camstudio, but it kept blinking and then I couldnt find it on the task bar and then I couldnt stop the recording. It was working for a while. This has caused me to look for another software.

any advice you have is greatly appreciated

Hey guys
@tturner86

I've seen the video on "how to" attach a youtube video,
i'm using the MS expression package thought it would be safer, when I try to up load it I get a message saying invalid file,

the file type is a WMV and about 9Mb there are other options none of which i'm familiar with, wondering if there is a list of file types that can be uploaded somewhere for out benefit, or added to the page terry made, also is the attachment process icon for videos the same as the icon for attaching screenshot/jpg files
anyone else using MS Expressions that can help, there are some other members but haven't posted since 2014,

Safe trading
Angelo

SnagIt is the way to go. Owned a license for Camtasia + SnagIt in the past, but these days only need and use SnagIt.

Does excellent screen capture plus video capture, and built in upload to YouTube or etc.

OBS is by far the most popular tool for this sort of thing. There's hundreds of tutorials on how to use it on YouTube. Make sure you use the encoder on your videocard. Also play around with the bitrate. You typically don't need as high of a bitrate because there's not a lot of movement in trading videos. That will make your videos smaller.
