I use FIOS ... speeds are 84 Upload/39 Download ... Internet/Cable/3 Phone lines runs $140+/month. On a related topic, I recommend having a redundancy plan, in the event you lose power.

From my house, Cox Communications, Orange County, Southern California

From my co-located servers, where I have servers running my strategies, among other things, just a few miles from my house, Cox's Business co-lo facility

Live out in the stix of Wi. Only option is satellite or get an office in town that has decent internet. D- 4.9, U- .97 for satellite.

Had a problem running Ninja on satellite and found that Trade Navigator works great with the speeds/sat. No problems day trading but prefer longer trading time frames. Can now analyze radar charts to know when the sat will go out. Other than that pretty consistent. Have a VSP/colocated server just in case should loose something day trading and for position trading. $140 a month for satellite.

My expectancy is much better position trading than day trading. Almost to the point of where wind up (dial up) would still work for me if not day trading.

Residential cable package for tv, telephone, and internet. I predominantly run vol arb strategies that do not require low latency connectivity.

I live in a downtown high-rise that has a microwave antenna for internet. On a clear day and when nobody else is downloading I have seen it get as high as 300mbps down 350mbps up. Like Mike says this means nothing much for trading. I was just happy to dump Comcast! Oh and its only $40 a month if you pay the year in advance. Competition my friends.

I currently have 85/85 from FIOS with 7ms ping. I have access to better plans but it won't do much of anything for my ping so it seems to be a waste considering I'm not moving massive amounts of information back and fourth.

If you need help determining your internet speed, you can use this website:

@Big Mike

Stupid question, I want to make a Ping Test to an Chicago Server, but on the Speedtest.net site there are 6 different servers and every server gives me a hole different result.
Which result is now the right one?

They are all in Chicago and all are right .
The routes to all of them should be quite similar, the results should also be quite close.

@sam028

No, there are a big difference's between them, 50ms - 190ms.

But now when I thinking about it, I don't need to check it to an Chicago server I need to check it to the Interactive Brokers server, how can I do that???

Michael
