That's the end of mainstream support. Extended support will be until 2020. This means continued security fixes for 5+ years. Only recently have many people stopped using their faithful XP boxes due to the end of extended support, and some still use it now. Bottom line is, if you like Win7, you'll be able to use it easily for another 5 years, hopefully long enough for Microsoft to release something post Win8.

evidently the monikor Windows 9 didn't have cache'

talk and tests and articles are being written about Windows 10, as we speak

Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB 2 5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive 887276851372 | eBay

@aligator
@sandptrader

Black Friday specials at Newegg, had the
Samsung EVO 840 roughly $59.99 for 128GB SSD (alternately the 840 Pro SSD)

I snagged the
Samsung 850 Pro SSD 256GB for $149.99

what's amusing is in a few months, these will seem like exceptionally high prices...

LOL...This is how price wars start.. Expect it at $89.99 somewhere on Jan 2nd.

But frankly, for $5 more and free delivery in 2-days Amazon is perhaps the safest place to give away your credit card information.

Cheers!

I've dealt with Adorama many times, they are a good vendor, mostly for digital camera equipment...

Could not resist the price drop, so bought the Samsung 840 EVO 250GB $99.99 at Amazon.
Free shipping, but had to pay Tax, so Total was $106.99
I was actually going to buy the 840 Pro 128gb...but this was to good to pass on.

@sandptrader

Congrats! That is how I was enticed to get one for my laptop..

The problem is Amazon has distribution centers in many states, so they charge taxes for those states. But still a good deal.

Here is the kicker though: The Samsung 840 comes with an installation CD. However, unless you want to make a recovery media and then replace the drives and re-load the recovery file, the easiest way is to have a SATA USB adapter ( transfer cable) handy for a painless exchange. This cable thing costs somewhere from $5-15 depending on USB-3 or USB-2, if you do not have one.

If you go this option, you might want to buy or order one from Amazon also to arrive at the same time.

Cheers!

*** Warning about the Samsung 840 EVO series ---
I was doing some reading about "gradual performance degredation bug", Samsung has released a FIX in the form of a firmware fix, be sure to do this immediately after installing the drive, to ensure optimum performance...not sure if the firmware fix is already in the new units or not..but it's probably a good idea to run the software just to be sure..

Samsung SSD 840 EVO Performance Restoration Software- link below will take you to the Samsung software-firmware FIX...
