I would like to ask what would be some Good Choices for Motherboard for the Intel Xeon 1230 v3 CPU ?
Decided to go with this CPU ....and the MB will not need OverClocking features or Onboard Graphics....but....
I would like a Quality Board of the 1150 Chipset or even Better if available with the following features as a focal point.
PCIe Slots for Multiple Video Cards preferably with 16 Speed/Lanes for both Cards...if i cannot get this i can settle for x8 Speed/Lanes for both Cards.
I have Everything else worked out for the Build , and will post that info soon.
Thanks for any suggestions, and why i should Consider a Particular Board for this CPU.

@GaryD....thought this would be the best place to post, and get some feed back on this before i start spending cash.
I have been trying to decide on components for a new build, and have put together what i think will work for my next workstation.
If you guys would like to point out any negatives on the components i would Appreciate your thoughts before i go and spend the cash for this build.
Thanks...

Thanks...

I am extremely happy with my computer build. It has never crashed, it does anything I can imagine with no lag, it is very quiet, starts up in seconds...

BUT, I know very little about computer components. I learned how to build it by hanging out at the local TigerDirect and by watching YouTube videos.

The Xeon 1245 V3 is my processor. I went with ASUS over AS Rock for a motherboard only because of brand reputation. My memory looks gamerish, but I never see it. My Silenx fan cost me maybe $8? LOL Here is what I did learn:

You do not need any fancy cooling system for a trading computer. It looks cool, but not necessary.

I run two installs of Sierra Chart, as many as 20 chart per install, and as many as 25 indicators per chart, and can still Skype, email, watch YouTube, etc... and rarely hit 4GB of memory.

When you start up for the first time, there will be a lot of updating to do. Mine involved graphics drivers, sound drivers, over 200 windows updates. That takes time but was worth the wait. I spent nearly an entire day just getting everything ready. Somewhere I posted a link to all of the websites I had to go to, including Intel.

PCPartPicker.com was a great place to shop. I built maybe a dozen boxes on screen before I finally selected my parts, and I set alerts for price changes. Great free service.

Hope it goes well, wish I knew more to tell you. I probably put in a few months of thought planning and research, and still screwed up my first attempt. But ultimately I got a machine with specs that price out to 3 or 4 times as much if bought through trading computer websites. Did I put in the savings in my own time, of course I did. But, I also do not trade because it is the easiest way to make money.

Z97 Motherboard Roundup Verdict - Tom's hardware[/url]

Z97 is for overclocking, better idea to go with H97 chipset

firepro are very slow on driver updates, few users here inc big mike have had problems - better off getting a gaming card, but up the budget!! - you've gone high end for ssd, psu, etc, but lowend on gpu....i would drop down to an evo 840 if trying to save $$ in order to go up a video card model or two

EDIT i think its not worth moving to 27 inches unless you go with a minimum of 2560 x 1440.
i use 24" that are higher resolution than your chosen monitor - that means i can see more chart data on a smaller monitor, which defeats the purpose of going up to larger screen size

Thanks Kickmic for looking over the components...it is not easy to find all the components suitable for a new build.
I am evaluating the 4 components you mentioned:
Monitors- here is what i found for better resolution- ACER K272HUL 27 WQHD 2560 x 1440 IPS LED DVI 2XHDMI at TigerDirect.com

SSD- I may drop down to the EVO 840 for $ 30 savings...not sure.
Video Card- i am at my wits end trying to find a Card/Cards to reach up to 4-6 Monitor set up.
Motherboard- i am still ok with the Board i posted...even though it is Gaming Oriented...the Features are Good...what could i expect to be a Negative if using this Board?
I am still looking into what Components to choose.
Thank you very much for taking the time to evaluate these components.
Also still not sure about CPU...looking at the I7 4790K as well.

Most modern gaming cards will support 4 monitors. AMD cards will usually need display port adapters to get the 4 working at once( apart from the r9 290*). From memory all the Geforce GTX cards from the GTX660 onwards will support 4 monitors out of the box. My trading computer has a GTX660 in it. Although it's an older card now it's still very capable, and you could pick one up cheap on newegg. If you want a new card that will run 4 monitors, and will play any game on ultra settings, then look at the GTX770 or the r9 290. Although It's really unnecessary for a trading build to have a top end graphics card.

I'd stick with a Z97 board, the only reason you would buy an h97 would be to save on price. Z97 is the top spec board, which generally has more features, supports overclocking & SLI/Crossfire. For example with a z97 board you could run 2 GTX660's in SLI and run 8 monitors, which you couldn't do with an h97.

Re the different motherboard brands- alot of people seem to have their own opinion on this. However it's often said that gigabyte boards are the most compatible/stable. Either way it's probably not going to matter much, the chipset is what counts.

Re Processor, the i7 4790k is the better performer, however the Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 should be more than enough for any trading setup- i doubt you will notice any difference. So it's more a question of price.

I think the evo 212 cooler is a great value for money regardless of whether you're overclocking or not. You should notice significant temperature deceases over the stock cooler.

Monitors - look for displayport inputs, IPS, and stands that will provide 90 degree rotation - no way you are going to run 4 x 27" monitors in a single row - most likely you will get the best configuration running those massive beats in portrait mode

Z97 up to you - i could be wrong but it appeared you were trying to save $$ here and there and the current config was skewed - so bringing back the motherboard freed up some dollars

I would try to get a card with as many displayport outputs as you can. This is why I currently recommend the Gigabyte 970 which has 3 displayport and 1 HDMI to run four monitors. Also, you can be sure this model will run quietly. I simply cant imagine it ever being necessary you requiring more than 4 x 27" monitors. And if you did, its only going to be a stage when your trading could justify simply going for an entire upgrade.

GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 900 Series - GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD (rev. 1.0/1.1)

I would contact Gigabyte and confirm that card can run 4 monitors at the higher resolution of the monitors simultaneously. While my card can run 6 monitors, it can only do so at a maximum of 1920x1200 (as an example)
