At futures io, our focus is on quality education. No hype, gimmicks, or secret sauce. The truth is: trading is hard. • We work extremely hard to keep things positive in our community.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendors advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, we can help you find it.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

@Big Mike, are you using mandrill to send out the mass emails we get to subscribe/unsubscribe, if not, what uses do you for it?

Thanks,

@Big Mike

Like I said, I use Thunderbird on my desktop but on my Surface I would prefer the have something cloud based. Do you know of a good cloud service where one can aggregate all our email accounts, that do basically everything Thunderbird does?

If I become half a percent smarter each year, I'll be a genius by the time I die

You can look at Zmailcloud, they were close to the functionality I have with my own system. The backend is Zimbra.

We are getting off topic.

No... I used Thunderbird years ago. What I needed is a cloud based replacement. I ended up doing my own Roundcube installation and combining it with my existing IMAP server, and imapofflinesync to sync up Gmail and other third party accounts to my primary IMAP server.

The solution is fully HTML5 and supports Ctrl-V pasting of images into message bodies and drag-n-drop attachments, something which was a requirement for me. I have all my Sieve rules setup for sorting of incoming mail across multiple accounts to proper folders, highlighting of certain keywords/alerts, multiple personality sending support, calendar/to-do list, etc. Plus I own all of it on my own server so I control it.

I haven't used Roundcube but this looks nice and I'll be trying it out, thanks for sharing.

Why don't you just use Gmail and forward everything to it? In my experience, the cost-of-ownership of running email on your own server backend has been more expensive than paying $5/month to GOOG or MSFT to take care of it for you. Just the penetration testing and minimal hardware for backups and 24/7 uptime would cost you several times of that. And the Google Calendar integration and various Gmail plugins will be missed. And Gmail is reasonably fast around the world, although I admit that 3-5 seconds of load time sounds like a lot of room for optimization. I wonder if self-hosting on a stack of SSDs would be faster ultimately.

Also, to stay on topic... cheers, to Windows 10.

That would be great. I am intrigued in terms of what business owners here use as far as software in their day to day operations, especially those who have to deal with customer service and marketing (like emails).

Any suggestions for the thread name?

Matt

I'd be very interested in such a thread too, I'll participate if you roll it out.

ok, started it:
https://futures.io/off-topic/35373-software-recommnded-business-owners.html#post487511

I made it a good SEO title "Software Recommended for Business Owners" to help futures.io (formerly BMT) to be found.
Go ahead and share. I will chime in after a few posts.
