Ouch several months away don't think I could wait that long! But just looked through all 32 pages of the 6 monitor thread and could not get a clear reason you did not like the eyefinity 6 card but what it really comes down to was it unstable to the point where you could not trade?

I'd like to go with the firepro but unless I can find a deal soon I may go with a Asus dc2 6950 crossfired with a 7850 for gaming.

I'm really considering just getting the two FirePro 2460's but man do they cost an arm and a leg! Don't know how you got 2 for $150!

Quick update everyone here's what my build is looking like right now.

You need an operating system, network card, back-up hard drive and probably aftermarket backup software / anti-virus.

Using a P67 chipset Sandy bridge processer and SSD the only excuse to go with the ASUS P8Z77-V is their auto overclock function has gotten good reviews and if a great ivy bridge processer comes out later you can upgrade. There will be vid tutorials on youtube.

256GB won’t store a bunch of games. DDR3 1600 MHz RAM with a latency of 8 or 9, Install CPU-Z and prime95.

Liquid metal thermal pastes work best but you will have to lap the cooling equipment to change processers. Prolimatech PK1 or Phobya HeGrease work and you can clean them with 95-99% rubbing alcohol and coffee filters.

Find a store near you to see the differences of monitors in person.

• 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200
• ISP vs TN
• 21.5, 23 or 24 inches

Even cut out 6 times 24 on card board and put it on your desk to see how much space 6 x 24 really is to sit, analyze and trade from (it’s a lot). Search the site for multi monitor info.

If you start out slow with 2 monitors you can add more later and pick a stand then if you need it.


Now you’re all set to lose a few grand like I did today. Thanks for the distraction. Where are new i7 2700K’s or 2600K’s selling for $220?

You may want to check out this card with the extra ram, the version I have may not be fast enough for gaming but the one with the faster ram is said to be ok in the reviews...

Four 24's didn't work for me - didn't like using the top two - bought 3 stands and 4 monitors too many.

Yup - you don't really need it (not like we have HFT algos running) - but the Internet connection ping speed can be improved.
