I would shoot for Windows 8 if possible. I seem to recall that a Windows 8 license includes a "downgrade license" to Windows 7. You may want to verify which edition (it may be Pro only) and how you go about this downgrade process if you need it. Personally I would rather try Windows 8.

Need help? 1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first. 2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses. 3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make. 4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance. 5) Where to start as a trader? I recently bought my daughter a new base/lowest 2012 MacBook Pro 13" -- sitting side to side next to her 2008 MacBook 13" = the laptops are look identical. I loaded 16 gigs of RAM into the 2012 MBP and the machine screams.
That base model classic (non-Retina) MacBook Pro still has the optical drive (what she wanted)....she's a high-school senior and this Mac is supposed to last for all of college (yeah -- I'm dreaming...)
