So I found it, and some reviews on YouTube to demonstrate the size of it.

It won't work for me unfortunately, because my mic sets on my desk between my keyboard and my monitors. I wouldn't be able to see three out of five of my monitors with this huge thing on my desk

Interesting. If I remember correctly, the one my friend has is much smaller and didn't seem heavy at all.
He was also only working with 2 monitors though. Dang it!

Mike,

There are two main categories of mics you are going to find - condenser and dynamic. These are names for the mic's transducer principle (how they work ). Of the mics you have right now, #1 + #3 are condensers and #2 + #4 sound like really poor quality dynamic mics.

What I believe you would have good luck with is a "higher" quality dynamic mic. Many of the radio guys use dynamic mics..... (example: Rush Limbaugh. uses an Electro Voice RE-20... many others use a Shure SM7). These mics are not usb, so you would end up having to buy more equipment to get them to work.

The closest I can find that is a USB mic is the RODE Podcaster. Rode makes pro mics that I've used in the studio, and they are a solid company.

The one down side is that with dynamics is that you need to get a little bit closer to the mic than with a condenser. However, if you can set a dynamic mic up in a place that is comfortable enough for you, there won't be a problem with all that ambient reverb in your space.

I've also got a few other ideas if this won't work... (maybe a Lavalier mic)?

Here's a video of the Rode Podcaster:

Great advice, Sentenza.

Supercardioid or hypercardioid would do well for this application.

Lavalier sounds good too.

If you guys come to a consensus on a mic that I can buy on Amazon, I am willing to buy one more to try and get better recordings. But I am afraid to buy more than this, as Amazon is not liking me to buy and return stuff probably.

Let me know a link.

These was just from a quick search on Amazon

Probably more than you want to spend here but just throwing some ideas around.
You would need a small preamp or cheap mixer with phantom power to use but it's very nice mic for the price.
I've used it for VOX many times.

https://www.amazon.com/Rode-Microphones-NT3-Hypercardioid-Microphone/dp/B0002D01H2/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1325822178&sr=8-21

Here's a usb preamp that would go with the mic above.
Amazon.com: ART USB Dual Pre 2 Channel Preamp: Musical Instruments

That would be a pretty sweet setup.

USB Condenser Cardioid
Amazon.com: Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone: Musical Instruments

Here's a cheap USB hyper cardioid
Not sure how good it is but it looks cool with the shockmount lol
Amazon.com: Alctron UM600 USB Studio Microphone w/Shockmount: Musical Instruments

Why are any of these better than the Marshal MXL or the Blue Yeti? Condenser w/cardioid...

The USB cardioid (Audio Technica) will probably be pretty similar to the marshal or blue yeti.
I haven't checked out the frequency response but I'm guessing it's similar.

The two hyper cardioid's (#1, #3) will block more of the reflections off the wall which
should give you less of the room sound. The reason being is is that hyper cardioid polar
patterns are more focused on what's in front of them and not behind or to the side.
They are primarily used in applications that need isolation.

Rode's are all around great mics built with professional components.

Just add a compressor and a de-esser and you are good to go (joking of course).
You don't need it but it's something I offered to do to the audio for a fuller sound.

@Big Mike

Was wondering where this microphone project ended up (or were you banned from Amazon ). I still believe your recorded voice quality is better than most of the posted webinars I've listened to anywhere on the web. In fact, I've found a few webinars posted on the web that I sure would LIKE to listen to, but the sound quality is so poor I just can't sit through them. To my surprise several of these poorly recorded webinars are produced by the current "Gurus" of the trading industry. I want to thank you for exerting the effort to make the futures.io (formerly BMT) video collection "Top Quality."

One final question, did you get another dog, or are we looking at your favorite baby pictures?

I am using my Blue Yeti.

GoToWebinar also dramatically reduces the voice quality. If you play some of my YouTube videos that are just me, and not a webinar, you will see the voice quality is far superior. So I figured it wasn't worth the extra investment.

The current avatar is just a pic of a friends dog.
