27" Monitors

I've used nothing but Samsung's. Currently have 4 of them. Their support has been excellent.

As to the 27inch vs two 24 inch, I have a better solution. 2 27inch. Makes for an awesome setup.

i have to turn the brightness and contrast down to match the lighting of the room and make my chart backgrounds a default neutral color too. the back light on this sucker is fucking ridiculous on factory settings.

I have bought ASUS, Dell, Samsung, Optiquest and a few cheap generic brands. They've all been good and reliable. None has had any problems. So I guess I would buy cheaper ones.
Also, for trading, almost any one will do.

I've always wanted to get a monitor like the nook with just black and white with no light so i wouldn't have problems staring at it for hours

Maybe you need more light in your room. Staring at a LCD in the dark or dim environment hurts the eyes really bad. I make sure there is enough lights in the room because my work require me to stare at the monitor all day. This does not included the few extra hours that I stare at chart during trading.

IMHO the best you can get for trading: EIZO S2243.
22", resolution 1920x1200, S-PVA panel.
I use two of them since 6 months.

Never ever use a 24" (or even a 27") model with 1920x1080 for trading, you would regret your decision.

i've been trading on a Dell 30inch HD screen now for two years. I've had it since 2006 with no issues at all. i have it connected to a dell laptop and I like it. It was $1700 when I bought it new.

I guess it depends on how you trade. I have 3 IBM 14 inch flat screens I bought on eBay 6 years ago when I just started trading, they are still running with absolutely no problems. I actually only need my laptop screen to trade, the other monitors just have crap on them to entertain me through the day. When I first started trading, I felt like it was a status symbol to have multiple monitors, if you want to call yourself a trader
