Microsoft said they will support Windows XP SP3 until April 2014. After that date, there will be no more updates or security patches. I'm still using XP on my secondary PC. My main PC has Vista.
I've been in IT for over 15 years. I've always been frustrated with Windows and did everything I could to avoid administrating it (stuck with Unix/Linux), but now that I'm using NinjaTrader I have no choice. So far I'm pretty happy with Windows 7 SP1 and hope Windows Server 2008 SP1 is certified for NinjaTrader at some point. I would definitely suggest starting with SP1 vs installing it afterwards.
I'm running Windows 7 SP1 fine on an old AMD Sempron 1.8Ghz with 2GB of RAM.
Windows Server 2008 works fine with Ninjatrader 7. I run it on a remote server and is as stable as Windows 7.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
I have found Windows 7 to be stellar. It is as stable as XP but looks much better and has some nice features.

Ninjatrader did a poll on this at their facebook page recently. theres quite a bit of them (incl yours truely). you could add a poll here too to get some stats. may be Mike should chip in an add a poll if possible.
Still with XP, have an eye on 7 and waiting to see what Windows 8 will offer. After trying 7 as a RC i know it can work
on the machine that i have now, but before making a final decision, i want to know if "8" can adapt to it, and there is info
that it will, Microsoft Confirms Windows 8 will run on Existing PCs .
