What does everyone use for session times? I want a new daily bar to start at 6pm so I ended up with just regular session, no evening session, and start time 18:00:00 and end time at 17:00:00. Is this optimal or is there a better way of setting session times?
Is something wrong with this question? 38 people have viewed this and not one reply! Is it a stupid question or something else?
With using just one session like I have the daily chart is off by one day, so I am curious how everyone sets their session times to have a new daily bar start at market open at 18:00:00?
To get the bar's date stamp of a 1-0-0 chart to use the date that follows a previous day's 18:00:00 ET start, you'll need to:
- Change the Start Time to 00:00:00, so it is 6 hours later.
- Change the Time Zone to Brussels (+1 CET/+2 CEST), …
Your best settings are these:
- Use Intraday Data (uses .scid data files)
- Use 1-0-0 Bar Period
- Use 18:00:00 - 17:59:59
- Use the New York time zone
- Do not use Evening Session
These settings will produce bars similar to the Historical Daily bars, which use .dly data files.
These settings will have the Date/Day one day prior to the corresponding Historical Daily bars.
