I came form ToS and just trying Sierra Charts but, WOW, what a platform! I just downloaded it a week ago and still haven't even scratched the surface of what this program can do.

Just curious, I am using it on a Mac using Parallels, are there any issues using it this way?

I retire in about 2 years and am papertrading on ToS but once I retire I will switch to Sierra charts and go live. Do I need to get a PC or will a Mac with Parallels work just as well?

I run sierra chart on a macbook pro with parallels professional edition. I give parallels 16GB of ram but sierra doesn’t need that much. Sierra Chart runs flawlessly. :-)

I guess assigning RAM to Parallels is a Parallels Pro option? I'm using Parallels Desktop I guess.

Thanks

Yes, I believe only parallels professional gives you that option. But you may find that Sierra runs great as is on your current set-up. Sierra is very efficient!

Honestly speaking, PC/Laptops are fairly cheap lately, you should consider buying trading specific rig. Not too heavy on speck, just enough.

In fact, there is thread for that.

IMO SierraChart is great for futures while ToS is great for Stocks/Options.

Just started to explore Sierra Chart I can see why professionals like it because it is so flexible, but the learning curve is steep I don't mind tinkering with it. I found the directions to be good just have to read it carefully I get hung up when I miss a step and something doesn't work.

Im using Sierra for about a two weeks. Fairly new to whole traiding. Im mac user as well. Was running it on my windows and also on vmware.
Vmware was ok. It wasn’t the smoothest experience, but still pretty good. Then I tried crossover for mac. Much better.

So if you dont want to pay for Parallels, Crossover is very nice alternative.
Didnt try Parallels tho

Did you post this on the Sierra Chart support board? Someone posted it there and I may try it. You still have to pay for Crossover though don’t you?

Is Crossover able to run the full version of Sierra just like Windows? When I tried a few years back it was a basic stripped down version.
