Wanted: how to duplicate trades, Sierra to 2nd Sierra on same computer
Does anyone have a script for this you can share or can point me to a tutorial? Or will I need it custom coded? Thanks.
(I'm running windows 10 and I'd like to have all the trades I make on my main Sierra with Ironbeam broker & Rithmic feed duplicated to a second Sierra installation with a different broker also using Rithmic.)
I sure hope someone comes up with an answer to this.
In general, I think platform designers have missed out in terms of meeting the need of customers to use their platform for many accounts or even many accounts at many brokers, and have one trade passed into each.
Sure, there is some complexity to this, but so what? Any complex problem can be broken down into small parts and solved. This is what programmers do.
I don't know if this can be done as a custom coding job using the existing Sierra Chart platform. I fear that it needs some work under the hood of the platform, which is beyond custom code built on top of the existing platform. But I would be delighted to find out that I am wrong.
In a way, this is not actually too hard to get around if you are willing to accept a bad workaround: just have two copies of the platform up at the same time, and instead of just doing one mouse click to fire off the trade (in one platform copy), make two (one in each.) But I hate this idea in an age that has supposedly reached a little computer maturity.
So, are there any good ideas out there about this? This is a very good question, even if it only prompts some thinking about the issue. And I hope there is a solution.

I think one solution could look like this: a custom executable program on your pc (outside of Sierra) that connects with each of the 2 Sierra installations and performs the order duplication. Using the api and dll file or maybe this can all be done with the spreadsheet function.
I'm not sure what you mean Bob. I'm running 2 instances of Sierra on my computer and they're hooked up to different data feeds already working great. Just need to be able to copy the orders from one to the other Since orders can be entered using a spreadsheet which hooks up to Sierra, I'm thinking there could be a custom macro function. Otherwise a couple dlls couple possibly do the job..
I understand that you can run two independent copies and manually click on them in turn. Getting it to be done in both simultaneously is the idea. I was speculating, without much concrete information, about what I thought would be involved.
But, actually, my perception of the technical issues is irrelevant, and I'm not arguing about them either way. I would just like to see it done.
I'm glad you opened this thread and I hope there is a response, or many responses. Perhaps, if there is no present solution, it will stimulate some thinking about the solution.
