I have done enough technical support calls, consultations, and observations to tell you that it is in your best interest to run one feed via any platform if possible. Running multiple feeds ( for example, one for historical, and one execution) can potentially affect your internet speed, hence your execution. These are very subtle differences, and not always visible, but I assure you that they do affect your data and execution. If possible, get all in one. For Sierra specifically, CTS/CQG/Rithmic provides historical data and execution.

Thank you,
Matt Z

Please keep us updated on the IB / sierra as I'm looking at this as a possible solution when the time comes.

Im just waiting for my funds to clear then Ill be placing my 1st live trade through IB. My opinion so far:

Sierra Chart: Best software I’ve used. Stable and lightning quick. It has everything you need. I pay $15 a month for the basic version as I don’t need any of the advanced features. Can be a hassle to configure and learn at first but its worth it.

Data: Sierra real time data. Seems legit. Watching NFP on Friday and it was fine. All in cost is $44/month and I get access to the full CME group as well as Eurex. I dont use level2 data anymore so it will cost more if you require that.

Interactive Brokers: So far I am happy. The online account management facilities are excellent. Support is also excellent. Its a bit of a process to get an account but you just gotta jump through the hoops. I do like the double authentication method. You cannot log into your account without first verifying it on your phone (which also requires a numeric password). So its pretty darn secure. Round trip fees are competitive.

In order to log into Sierra with your IB credentials you first need to be logged into IB Gateway (thanks @Scalpguy for recommending it). IB Gateway also requires authentication from your phone before connecting. The entire process of logging in takes about 30 seconds and then you’re good until you decide to log out.

All in all I would recommend this setup.

Grant, what are the margin requirements per contract in the markets you are trading? I can't seem to get the IB website to tell me for some reason.

Just a thought but if you move your account over to InfinityAT Futures you get Sierra Charts for free. I highly recommend Josh Harris at Infinity, I know a lot of traders and many were w/ IB and switched to Infinity none have gone back to IB, check them out

Very helpful team of people at Infinity. I spoke to Markus and he seem to genuinely want to help. Their Sierra help videos on youtube are great.

They have programmed a module into Sierra which is like a control center or something. Looked useful but personally I prefer usng the generic bare bones platform with no frills. Also, when I did my round trip costings I found that for my style of trading it worked out cheaper to pay for the platform.

Does anyone have an InteractiveBrokers/Sierrachart/CQG combination?
Going through the help file makes it sound like IB and SC is highly problematic combination.

Just wanting to know if anyone has encountered any problems in general with this setup.

Many thanks.

Hi, I'm also looking at this combination, but have read how SC support really don't like IB because of various issues. So I'm interested in how you, or anyone else is getting on with it these days?

Absolutely no problem at all. Its solid. I use Sierra data and IB as the broker. As long as you go through Sierras setup procedure step by step and dont miss anything, then you should have no issues. Sierra have a solid interface with IB its dumb users that dont read properly and need to be spoonfed everything that have drama (kinda like me trying to learn ACSIL - I have to fess up that I have been going full retard lately trying to figure that out).
