This was not a joke (was a real suggestion) and I do not know where this conversation is going.

The heatmap is a representation of the volumes on the DOM. The higher the volume the darker the colour. The right edge of the chart is updated as volumes in the DOM changes (same as your Pink box).

You can look at the chart and see if it is working. There are times that a trade has not occurred but volume changes significantly on the DOM , the right edge of the chart would reflect that by a change in heatmap colour. If the volume change is not significant then the colours would not change.

I have already spent too much time on the subject and I do not have anything else to add.

Best wishes

Amir

No worries,

If you are unable to code it or don't want to code it so be it.

For those of you who understand my point, watch some videos of BM on youtube and see how the future DOM (heatmap not histogram) moves into the present . You can clearly see which orders are real (institutional) vs the spoofers vs algo’s etc.

When driving you want to see the road ahead in the same context as that you have just passed, compare like with like.

I am not sure what the forum rules are regarding crowed funding an indicator development. Bookmap is worth it in my opinion. End result being users get the cpp file so customization's are possible. A DLL is OK if there will be future support, which I highly doubt.

For a little bit of money each we can get something amazing. Just a suggestion

Since @BigMike is the owner I would like to hear his views.

But aren't SC writing code for their own official BookMap. If it is a Study then SC make the code available anyway, so you can build on that and modify it.

Thanks

I just looked up the thread.

https://www.sierrachart.com/SupportBoard.php?ThreadID=14111

Hopefully people with sierra can request the current DOM to be a heatmap.

This is one of my last work on this Study. In this I have increased the numbers of shades to 20. So each level can be differentiated by 20 Grey levels compared to the Maximum volume level on the DOM.

Very limited testing has been done on it. Please check it by comparing it to the DOM values.

This study is for my own use however, I am sharing it with others who can benefit from it. If it does not suit your needs you can always buy a commercial software, other studies or wait for the SC implementation to complete.

Please also make sure you undestand how this work and how the display is painted and updated as no support is or will ever be given.

Kind regards

Amir

Do you actually use BookMap?

If I get the chance tomorrow I will run ES Bookmap vs SC Bookmap and post some comparison pics.

Thanks @Neo1 that would be great.

I have used it; I tried out the trial version. It is an amazing visual representation of the DOM. I would love to be able to incorporate it with other indicators/tools I use. Drawing volume profiles in BM around congestion areas and incorporating mid and vwap lines to name a few would make a very powerful trading platform for me.

IMO, Bookmaps days are numbered as vendors build this features into their software. There is nothing proprietary with changing the DOM into a heat map. There is a reason they went for the cash grab model (outright payment) vs a license monthly subscription.
