Anyone have code for a custom study overly that will allow me to show an arrow or dot anywhere on the chart and not just the bar that the alert condition occurred on?

You can show a marker anywhere vertically above or below the respective bar, but one wonders why you'd want to show it anywhere else. Please explain further.

LOL.. I wonder if they asked Thomas Edison why he wanted to invent a light bulb, when the candle worked just fine.

I need a study overlay that can be placed anywhere on the chart and it will allow me to pick the study to overlay and display a draw style of my choosing.

However, assuming i want to see when the slowK is over the slowD, i want to use the alert of the study overly to display an arrow up.
When the alert is triggered, I want to be able to show the arrow up at any location(of my choosing) on the chart, not just at the bars that the alert is triggered on.

I'm unsure if this is what you want or not, but here is what I have found.

If you go to Chart settings >> Advanced Settings and click "Use Left Side Scale".
Add your Color bar Alert study and click Scale, User Defined and set the left side scale so that the output of 1.0 will be placed vertically on the chart where you like.

If you also want to be independent of the time scale then I have no answer except to overlay onto another blank chart and shrink it to the point where only the latest bar is showing and have the arrows print like that.

Good Luck

Another option would be to try the 'Text Display for Study' study. It allows you to place text being say the last value of another study. I have used it successfully, but have not tried it specifically related to an alert trigger.

Just have a play with it as it is a straight forward study.

Man ... thanks for this! I've always wanted to know how to do that. It never ceases to amaze me all the features that are built in to SC.

Thanks for the suggestion steve.
I currently use the 'Text Display for Study' to display some ATR values on my chart.

The 'Text Display for Study' as coded will show the value of a slowK (ie 72.62).
However it would not show if the value is above the slowD or if the slowK is dropping but still above the slowD.

This is how I would like to display the custom study overlay with ability to show a draw style of my choosing.
Anywhere on the chart.
If I chose an arrow up or down, it would look like this on the chart based on the alert condition.
