Sierra chart with interactive brokers or infinity futures
I could be wrong, but after seeing an Infinity Futures video , they may have server side OCO orders . I use IB for data
and use Sierra Charts trading platform. Their trade hours margin is 50% of the after hours margin.
IB data is not the best, and there can be interruptions. But the SC trading platform seems to work well.
If you take a look at IB’s trader work station, it’s order types (iceberg orders, algorithms etc) are more geared to someone trading 1000 lots then a typical day traders 1-10 lots.
I like IB TWS and API. They plug into sierra chart seamlessly and takes maybe 5 minutes to setup.
You seem to be using a set-up that I'd like to replicate. Currently I'm using SC + datafeed while trading lmax's Dax mini CFD, but it would be great to be able to manage positions from the actual futures data on the charts.
Looking at IB's Dax mini futures pricing; on Fixed it looks like 1.60e per round turn, Tiered (<1000) looks like appx 1e. Is this correct? If so, not sure why anyone would use Fixed. Can you give me an indication please of how much you pay per contract, and if I'm overlooking/missing any other fees?
It's a bit tricky, but manageable. I have a chart for the CFD broker, amongst all my other charts based on actual data, so that I can trade from it, and know where I am roughly. And being able to use SC's order management is good. But of course, it's not ideal, as the prices differ between the CFD and underlying, but they don't even differ by a constant amount, it can vary from day to day, so you can't overlay and offset it, not to mention that sometimes price movemnt occurs on the CFD that was nowhere to be seen on the futures mkt!
It would be a lot nicer to trade from, and see my position, on all my main charts, on the futures data, hence looking to IB, and probably be worth the increase in commissions.
