Hey all,

Im busy giving Sierra Chart a try and have a question for those of you more experienced with the platform:

With Gomi's volume profile tool within Ninja it is possible to scroll through your historical charts and the volume profile will build as if it was live. In other words if i've got an intraday bar chart up, over layed with gomi's volume profile I will have one volume profile per day. Then if I scroll back or forward through the charts the volume profile will actually build / 'deconstruct' as you scroll.

Is there a way to do this in Sierra? So far I haven't seen a way to do this. With Sierra when scrolling back through charts the volume profile is displayed as complete even if you've scrolled half way through a particular day. For example if i've scrolled back to 11am on a particular day, the volume profile will not display what it should have looked like at 11am, it will show the full end of day volume profile.

I hope i've explained this properly. If not let me know and ill post some screenshots.

Thanks.

Just thought I would add another question here instead of starting another thread:

- I believe you are able to run multiple instances of Sierra Chart on the same PC. What I was hoping to do is run Sierra on two different PC's with the same licence but it seems as though that is not possible. Logging in on the 2nd computer kicks me off of the first.

However @tomgilb mentioned here that it is possible to run Sierra on up to 2 PC's with the same licence:

Maybe this is an older feature which no longer exists? or perhaps this is not available on the free trial?

thanks.

When I scroll through chart in Sierra chart, it does adjust like you say.
It gives profile for what is fit on screen.
You select this option under " Volume Graph Period Type " in the settings section. It is the first option at the top.
Set it to "visible Bars " to get the effect you want.

There are many other options also.

Concerning two pc's

I cannot log in on a second computer because I have a special version of Sierra Chart that was offered by my broker , AMP futures. It has some limitations. I can only run one instance.

@DarkPoolTrading and @shanemcdonald28,

I think this is the reason why: Help topic 75: FIX Services Only Allow One Connection at a Time - Sierra Chart

We can still use one SC licence on 2 or more PCs, provided we have 2 or more separate FIX accounts..

Thanks for the suggestion. This is not quite what I was hoping for but will be fine for a work around solution. When you setup 'Volume Graph Period Type' to 'Visible Bars' then there is one single profile which is displayed for the entire screen. As you scroll the volume profile builds. However what I was hoping for is to still have one single volume profile per day, so that as you scroll through a specific day just the profile for that day will build.

Below is a screenshot from Ninja showing a profile from 16 and 17 Oct. This is at the end of 17 Oct and the VPOC is at +-16152

In the second screenshot below I have scrolled to the left slightly so that instead of showing the whole day on 17 Oct, you can only see up to +-16:30. As you can see, the volume profile has changed based on how far back i've scrolled which now shows the VPOC at +-16073. But the profile for the 16th has remained unchanged because you can still see all the bars from that day.

Is there any way to do the above? If not your suggestion will be ok as a work around.

thanks.

yes I see !
that is a very nice feature !

I do not know if that can be done.

Perhaps if you set one profile up in the indicator section, and then paint the other profile on the chart using the " draw volume profile tool "
Have you tried that tool yet ?

This would give you separate profiles with separate settings for each.

Thanks Shane, yes that would also be fine as a work around. It seems as though the exact same behavior as NT is not possible (unfortunately), but the workarounds will work fine. No problem

Other than this one thing, so far im really liking Sierra.

Thanks.

I just got Sierra from AMP futures with the TT deal.
I like it also.
But I mostly do autotrading and I find it difficult for that

Hi DarkPoolTrading,

Have you found another way of doing this by any chance by now?

Thanks
