I am a bit confused. I am thinking about using Sierra charts as my trading platform.
My broker is IB and I will be using IQ as my data feed. Does this mean that I need two instances of Sierra running?
And when that is true I have to switch charts to execute my trades?
What I really want is that I have one chart where the data from IQ is displayed and where I can use the chart trader on the exact same chart. Is that possible at all?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on futures io?

Yes, I do it with multiple brokers & IQFeed and works perfectly.
I have my main charting instance of Sierra for all my charts, powered by IQFeed.
Then I have other instances of Sierra that are DOM's only for brokers. I even have Volume Profile data on my DOM from IQFeed, while the 'last' is from the broker. Very powerful.
Example ES DOM. This is the only thing open in this instance of Sierra. The volume profile is from a remote chart, from the other instance of Sierra running IQFeed charts.
One more question now that you brought up volume profile. I added a cumulative delta to my chart but it is only printing dashes, does that mean I need a level II subscription?

If you are trying to do cumulative delta with IB, don't. It's a waste of time.
Delta just requires L1 to know if the trade was at the bid or offer. But I think L2 is part of the CME futures group with IQFeed. IQFeed also has historical bid/ask, so it can backfill.
Ah, I also see that my chart is delayed. I see the actual price, but the bars appear like 15 mins later.
May be my account needs to be verified or whatever, set-up this morning (GMT).
This morning I spoke with a support guy from IQfeed and he told me that it was not possible to get back fill on cumulative delta because IQ doesn't store market bid and ask volume :S
I think there has something gone wrong in your communication with IQFeed. You do not have to be logged in all the time to get proper Cumulative Delta Values.
It's late now. Let's try tomorrow to properly configure a chart for you.
My CD never back fills properly and my historical download is set to tick. Its either inverted or flat back fill unless my computer is on.. IQ Feed told me they don't store historical delta data was the reason that happens..
To understand this thread properly, when you turn on the computer in the AM, you see the delta on your overnight chart as well and its not inverted or flat lined? Its also the same thing on footprints.. the back fill data is missing.
I don't know what's going on with you IQ users who are having problems with delta. I had IQ for a year and used it with Sierra for a while and always delta was fine. Something's not set right if you do not have CD correctly, because it all works perfectly.
For a sanity check make sure "Download Historical Intraday Data As" is Ticks and also "Intraday Storage Time Unit" is 1 Tick.
Also, I'm shocked that anyone from IQFeed told you this, or that some of you have misinterpreted it. A tick from IQFeed looks something like this:
[TIME] [LAST] [VOL] [BID] [ASK]
Note there is no bid size or ask size, but that does not matter at all for a delta calculation. Everything you need is right there, and every tick from IQ has it. Check your settings.
Hey Mike...how do you get that extra column between the profile and the DOM? at the 1393.25 line there is a '4'...nice to have a little space so the numbers dont all run together...
