IB Data

I just started a SC subscription after only using IB's TWS as a charting / trading platform. I'm thinking once I get used to Sierra, I will like it better than TWS.

My question is if IB's data is decent enough or if I should pay for IQfeed? Ideally, I would like to use IB's data (since its free), but I will pay for a data service if need be.

I only trade stocks and use a 5min chart. Thanks for the advice!

IB's data are without a doubt good enough for 5min charts.

IB sends snapshot data, therefore they should not be used for any volume/delta study and for the same reason not to construct tick (volume, renko) charts.
BTW Sierra works without any problem with IB's data feed.

I've been using IB with the Sierra Chart demo and it seems to be working out well on the 5min chart. Like UnderPar said I don't use any volume or delta or tick information because of the way IB sends market data it is not useful. If you decide to switch to renko or something you'll have to get another provider like IQ

IB and SC is the best combination. IB data is solid, plus SC support 5 second updated data, MC or NT has not supported this feature yet

Question: When you use IB data with SC, do you execute on SC or the IB Platform?

PM with any questions about optimusfutures (800) 771-6748 (561) 367 8686. THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL RISK OF LOSS IN FUTURES TRADING.
