From Jan 24:

Echoing what he said on CNBC yesterday, Dalio said that The current economic environment is good for stocks but bad for bond investors. “It feels stupid to own cash in this kind of environment. It’s going to be great for earnings and great for stimulation of growth."

myself:
In contrast to Dalio's public talk bravado (who may well be "taking his book") the current environment could be great for an equity crash.

26 Jan was the peak - 4 days after Dalio's "great for stocks"

We have now (Feb 6, 2018 7:30am) had a drop of more than 10% before govt buy programs.

The nodes were purchased by the Seattle Police Department via a $3.6 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The Seattle Police Department argued the network would be helpful for protecting the port and for first-responder communication during emergencies. As the Times notes, “the mesh network, according to the ACLU, news reports and anti-surveillance activists from Seattle Privacy Coalition, had the potential to track and log every wireless device that moved through its system: people attending protests, people getting cups of coffee, people going to a hotel in the middle of the workday.”

Megan Erb, spokeswoman for Seattle Information Technology, said the city has budgeted $150,000 for contractor Prime Electric and city employees to remove dozens of surveillance cameras and 158 “wireless access points” — little, off-white boxes with antennae mounted on utility poles around the city.

The Times notes that, “crews are tearing its hardware down and repurposing the usable parts for other city agencies, including Seattle Department of Transportation traffic cameras.”

[So move the cameras to different poles?]

(ABC)– A self-driving Uber car hit and killed a bicyclist early Monday morning in Tempe, Arizona, police said.

The vehicle was in “autonomous mode at the time of the collision, with a vehicle operator behind the wheel,” Tempe police said in a statement.

The female bicyclist died of her injuries at a hospital, police said.

“Uber is assisting and this is still an active investigation,” according to the police statement.

Uber tweeted that, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We’re fully cooperating with @tempePolice and local authorities as they investigate this incident.”

Self-driving Uber [AUTOLINK]car[/AUTOLINK] kills Arizona bicyclist, police say

===========
A woman was struck and killed by one of Uber's self-driving cars in Tempe, Arizona, early Monday morning. This is the first known fatality from an autonomous vehicle accident on a public road.

At the time of the collision, a vehicle operator was behind the wheel but the car was in autonomous mode, according to Tempe police. No passengers were in the car.

"The vehicle was traveling northbound just south of Curry Road when a female walking outside of the crosswalk crossed the road from west to east when she was struck by the Uber vehicle," the Tempe police said in a statement. "She was transported to a local area hospital where she passed away from her injuries."

The police said Uber is assisting in the still-active investigation. The ride-hailing company has also confirmed that it's temporarily halted its self-driving operations in all other cities where it's been testing its vehicles, including Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Toronto.

the Committee decided to keep the target range for the federal funds rate at 0 to 1/4 percent and currently anticipates that this exceptionally low range for the federal funds rate will be appropriate at least as long as the unemployment rate remains above 6-1/2 percent, inflation between one and two years ahead is projected to be no more than a half percentage point above the Committee's 2 percent longer-run goal, and longer-term inflation expectations continue to be well anchored.

Here is the schedule for the next 5 FOMC meetings:

December 17-18*
January 28-29
March 18-19*
April 29-30
June 17-18*
