Hey guys,

If you would like to share things specifically related to the COVID vaccine:

-- Which injection did you receive?
>
-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
>
-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
>
-- Where do you live?
>
-- Any side-effects from your injection?
>
-- Anything to add related to the injection?
>

You can copy/paste and answer easier.

If you didn't get it and/or have no plans to get it, then there is no need to post anything (especially negative) in this thread. This thread isn't about general COVID stuff, there is another thread just for that. This thread isn't about politics.

Thanks!

Mike

I for one have not received the injection yet. I want it of course. But here in Ecuador, it looks like it is going to take another few months at best.

My wife is also insisting that I receive only the Pfizer, because I am immunosuppressed due to Psoriatic Arthritis, and also the biologic shot I take monthly for that (Cosentyx).

-- Which injection did you receive?

> I received Phizer/BioNTech

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?

> By chance.

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?

> No, I did not receive priority personally. There was an announcement that vaccinations were going to be administered near where I live, with priority given to more at-risk/front-line workers, etc (I forget the designations, classes A and B maybe?) and if there were leftover vaccines they would be given to the general population. I got on the wait-list and received the call in the afternoon of the day of the vaccinations that there were still plenty and to come out. It was well-organized and there were a lot of helpful volunteers, overall very pleasant experience. I go back 3 weeks to the day of the first dose to receive the 2nd (and final) dose.

-- Where do you live?

> Chicago

-- Any side-effects from your injection?

> None. I ran earlier in the day, for the first time in weeks and only the second time this year. After I received the vaccine my partner and I walked home because the weather was so nice, which was a few miles. I was fatigued the next day but I believe it was mostly due to the fact that I got so much exercise the day before after a long pandemic winter

-- Anything to add related to the injection?

> I had a good experience personally. I can update once I get the second dose.

-- Which injection did you receive?
> Moderna

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
> By chance. You get what's available.

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
> Yes, everybody in the UK is grouped by age and some other characteristics. So basically it's a gigantic queue the size of the population of the whole country - how very British. I'm in my early 50s. Older people i.e. those who are generally more vulnerable, get/got it first. My mother had her first one in late January (Pfizer, no real negative reaction).

-- Where do you live?
> United Kingdom.

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
> Apart from a sore arm, none so far - but only had it yesterday! Fingers crossed.

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
> Very small payload (0.5ml?), so you don't feel an inrush of fluid, and although I didn't look directly, it must have been a small needle because the pricking sensation was really minor. They asked me to sit down for 15 minutes afterwards just in case I had an adverse reaction. I browsed FIO on my phone for 20 minutes, then went home. Follow-up jab in 12 weeks, I was told.

-- Which injection did you receive?
> Moderna, both shots.

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
> It was what was offered in a county health department mass vaccination program.

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
> At the time, eligibility was based on age (over 65), or whether you were in an essential occupation. They will be opening up to everyone soon, actually I think they have by now. The county health department maintained the list based on internet sign-ups and texted/robocalled/emailed (all three) when your number came up. I was signed up on two county lists, and started getting notifications from both at nearly the same time. They were making a big effort to get people vaccinated.

-- Where do you live?
> Florida, USA

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
> Very slight soreness in arm and a little tiredness after the first shot, noticeable tiredness/fatigue for a day after the second. None of the heavy reactions some people have gotten.

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
> Deep relief that the covid threat is over for me. I'm not going to be foolish about throwing away my mask or taking risks, since it is "only" 90-95% protective, but that is good protection. But I've crossed an important line after a year of this, and it's a great feeling. Both shots were done as drive-ins on week-ends and the process was amazingly efficient, with National Guard, volunteers and medical people getting thousands through with no hassle at all. I have a friend who got his during the week, not as a drive-in but in a large empty store, and his experience was similarly well-organized and fast.

I never freaked out about the risks during the pandemic, but I was always conscious of them and took safeguards very seriously, determined to make it through. The emotional difference, knowing that I'm there and that I made it, is amazing.

-- Which injection did you receive?
>Oxford Astra Zeneca first injection mid March

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
>Chance. It is what the vaccine centre had been allocated and is the vaccine that the UK has purchased the most of.

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
>No. Turned 50 at the end of last year and that age range started being offered the vaccine.

-- Where do you live?
>England, UK.

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
>No apart from a slightly sore arm for a few days. (My Mother had the Oxford AZ too but she felt cold and flu like for a day or two after).

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
>Very quick and easy. In and out in five minutes. My elderly parents had to wait 15 minutes afterwards but they weren’t doing that at the centre I went to/for the younger age range.
Looking forward to the second one sometime within three months from the first.

-- Which injection did you receive?
> Pfizer

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
> Random

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
> No, just age bracket (priority group 10 out of roughly 20)

-- Where do you live?
> Isle of Man/UK

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
> Very mild cold/flu-like symptoms first day after the injection. Slept almost 11 hours that night and was better by the next day. Sore arm for about three days.

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
> Very efficient at the injection center. Was injected within three minutes of walking in the door. Had to sit in another room for 15 minutes before leaving but that was it.

>Somewhat, the vaccine I got my shot from went to family/friends of employees before being open to the public

-- Where do you live?
> Michigan-US

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
> No side effects, only soreness in arm that quickly went away the following day

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
>Like the above posters said, I was monitored for 15 minutes to make sure I was okay

-- Which injection did you receive?
>Astrazeneca

-- Did you/your Dr select this for a reason, or was it by chance?
> I somewhat selected it by availability. Since so many people seemingly don't want Astrazeneca, they changed the rules so anyone over 40 could get it immediately in Canada (varies by province but in general that's how it is), or you can wait a few months until it's your turn for Pfizer or Moderna. I was indifferent and rathered just get what was first available to me. The day they announced it (yesterday), I was able to book an appointment at a pharmacy for 1 hour later.

-- Were you given priority in a "list"?
> No

-- Where do you live?
>British Columbia, Canada

-- Any side-effects from your injection?
> Felt very mild flu like symptoms the next day (slightly achey and small headache). 2 Tylonel cleared it up no issue.

-- Anything to add related to the injection?
> Was really a non event. For anyone in Canada if you are having trouble finding an appt for AZ at a pharmacy like SDM or Pharmasave, try others like Costco or Walmart. I was told by a few people the local Shoppers Drug Marts were impossible to get an appt at, meanwhile I booked with Walmart pharmacy the same day and they had plenty of openings for the subsequent days also.
