Great journal! (Journal 4.5) Thanks for hard work.

I have one question. I'm trading with € (eurex) everything is settled and calculated in EUR. How can I change a currency everywhere to €?

Thanks

Hey Mike,

Congrats on the forum, I think it is one of the better trading forums I have come across, and I've seen my fair share. As to what I measure in terms of performance, besides the items you have, I also include the following in an excel file i've designed myself over the years:

  • Profit per day, month, quarter and annually, with the ability to provide filtered results instantly;
  • # of Trades
  • Trade Class/Type based on my trading system (eg, may have 'A' class trend continuation, 'B' class breakout, 'C' Reversal, etc...
  • # winners/losers per Class/Type
  • Trade Batting Average (winners to losers as above)
  • Average winning/losing trade amount ($ & R multiple)
  • Largest winning/losing trades
  • Average consecutive winners/losers
  • Largest consecutive winners/loser
  • Average winning/losing trade time
  • Average winning/losing trade - time of orders
  • Winning/losing periods (eg – opening bell vs morning vs lunch vs afternoon vs close)
  • Winners to losers per Instrument
  • Average winner/loser per instrument
  • Average time in trade per instrument
  • Equity Curve per instrument and portfolio (see how my own trend is going )
  • Equity Curve vs Weekly Review Score (my own system for rating myself on trades, including completion of non-trading items each day) Essentially finding my profits go up when i complete all my tasks...
  • Average winner per trade rating (rating given based on performance criteria in each trade, detailing observation and monitoring of market, trade setup recognition, entry and execution, trade monitoring, trade exit, post trade analysis, etc...)
  • Profit/Loss Average per day of week (eg - do i trade well on Friday vs Monday)
  • Profit/Loss Average per session per day

There's a few other things i measure, but i won't go into detail as it probably isn't relevant to anyone except my strange self....

Hope this helps in some way...

The Hermit...

Can you share your excel sheet plz

I noticed that in the latest version of Excel, many functions of this worksheet that I love do not work. In fact, every time you open certain worksheets, like "Overview" or "Pivot Table", it generates an error saying "Run-time error '1004': RefreshTable method of PivotTable class failed".

I believe it is not able to update the pivot table or InternalCalcs2 worksheet correctly in this new version of Excel.

Would this be an easy fix for anyone by chance?

Love the spreadsheet... thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Wow.... New member here and found this thread. It took be a little while to find the updated version 4.5. I love it. I have been swing trading for years and have my own SS journal fot swings. But this is going to be great as I switch from my swing trading to day trading the mini and micro index futures.

Thank you so much!!

Does anyone have a template or a process for grading or ranking your trades?

Something like this but looking for a bit more detailed....

https://version2.edgewonk.com/how-and-why-to-grade-trades-if-you-want-to-trade-succesfully/

This image in the above url:

HTML Code:

On top of the image shared here, if It captures Grade A,B,C or #1-3 ranking against a trade then while reviewing the trades it would be a useful metric.

While I am preparing one, I don't want to iterate through if there is a proven one available here with the forum members.

Cheers!
