I'm conflicted over scalping. On the one hand I enjoy the short term burst of taking quick profits with minimal time in the market, and on the other hand I deplore the RR most systems use to achieve those profits. What's more, finding an instrument that behaves properly is challenging.

I always have a few systems in the fire that I test and trade. (A bad obsession.) BruteForceScalper-CL with its large PT wasn't really a scalper. I think that was an effort to bridge the gap between really large PT and small SL so I could feel better about a low win ratio. Sorta like getting half pregnant.

So, here is PuristScalper. It was conceived about a year ago and, traded for 6 months with results that met my idealistic expectations of what an ATS scalper should look like. I've tried to duplicate this on other instruments with little success. I imagine in time, CL will act differently and the party will be over since I have no interest in tweaking this. Frankly, I can't imagine getting better results and statistics. Now comes the fun part--increasing the contracts and pyramiding the profits.

Don't take this the wrong way, but what is the purpose of these threads? You keep posting impressive results, but never provide any code that I am aware of. I am sure others would love to see what you are doing, and perhaps we can help make it even better.

I think BM answered this best in his opening thread here:

"The journal is to help the person posting it (that would be you). Sure, viewers and outsiders looking in can benefit, but the best way they could REALLY benefit would be to start their own journal. You can't be a successful trader by simply copying what others are doing."

Moreover, given the sad fact that many traders either don't believe in or are scared to death of ATS, perhaps some may change their thinking and explore ATS as a viable method in achieving their goals as professionals in this business.

I've tried to duplicate this on other instruments with little success.

Although I'm not holding my breath, this might be changing. One of my cheerful interns (sort of reminds me of Greenie) thinks she cracked the code, so to speak, with a few other markets.

Stay tuned. If there's fire near this smoke, I'll report it.

Hey if it is supposed to be a journal, that's awesome. I have read your entries with interest, as you post a bunch of system results that look very good. So good, I really would not think you need a journal (famous last words coming from someone that does not have one - ha).

With all of these systems, how are you doing overall?

I ask because I used to be a system/indicator junky, and came to realize that I was leading myself down the wrong path - at least for me.

I think a person can be successful with automated systems, but it is a different game compared to discretionary trading. If you can expose futures.io (formerly BMT) to how that works for you, that will be rewarding for everyone here.

Hi

Are you running ATS with Ninja? I've read a lot of negative comments here on futures.io (formerly BMT) around ATS and Ninja - it would be really great if you could share some of your positive experiences to all of us who aspire to to do ATS...
