In the end, it comes to display appeal between CQG and TT. They are both very good, and have servers worldwide.
Very strong in the area of technology and support.

There is "X Trader Platform", and now TT also has the "TT Platform" which is web based.
It is a great option for trader due to its charting and its a major improvement in my opinion over X Trader.
https://www.tradingtechnologies.com/platforms/tt-platform/ watch the Vid at the bottom of the page.

Both CQG Trader and TT Platform have mobile access.

So they're both good

They are. But these platforms, in my opinion, are for guys who are intermediate to advanced traders who
care about execution and speed. I do not think that beginners appreciate all the features until they really discover the in and outs of trading.

Thanks,
Matt

Trading futures and options involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. You may lose more than your initial investment. All posts are opinions and do not claim to be facts. Please conduct your own due diligence. Use only Risk capital when trading Futures.

Thanks Matt. You're probably right. I know that Qtrader (the product I use) offers very good value and a number of things I haven't seen in other platforms. For instance I use often the DOM-triggered stop loss where you can set a liquidity threshold under which the stop will be triggered. A nice little feature that saved quite a few of my trades from being stopped out simply because priced touched that level. I am guessing TT may have something similar but not many others...?

I could really get along with Q Trader, if only it had the ability to show price volume profiles. Without this capability, it simply is not an option for my trading needs.

Have now started using Multicharts.net SE and really like it. Meets pretty much all my needs for now (so does Sierrachart, but personally, I just find MC a little more aesthetically appealing). And as long as I am mostlly trading no more than one or two instruments, the SE version will do for now. I have noted that with the CQG feed there are the occasional disconnections in MC and I am not happy about that. May try the Rithmic feed instead or even look at a hosted option.

But I will continue to look and see how Q Trader will evolve. Maybe they will kindly add price volume profiles sometime in the not so distant future?

Just an update on this-CQG does now have Volume profile. Not as good/easy to read as easyscreen/TT in my opinion but it is there grey area right hand side of DOM)

hi bootsyjam. Colours in the DOM are customizable. I have used Qtrader since 2014, they had volume profile at the time too. You're referring to the column that for my screenshot is at the very left for the DAX, right?

in TOS on stocks, I can go back in time.. put on a simulated trade.. and walk forward day by day to see the impact of vol, price etc on the calls, puts or even other option strategies

I know in IB Risk Navigator and Qtrader .. there is a what if.. meaning change variables but thats based on a position created today..
Can u go back in time and do the same?

Can we do the same for futures options in Q trader? Can some verify

thanks

For question a) you used to be able to do it in prior versions.

I believe now that's something they restricted only to Integrated Client. I may be wrong.

Just seen your message. Sorry I can't help you there. I have zero experience with options.
