You installed the download in the computer you want to RDC to, correct (not the tablet)?

You should be able to RDC from anywhere in the world (LAN, wifi, LTE wireless, etc...).... I RDC from other countries into my trading computer...

Yes I installed it to my trading laptop in my office. It said that the dll is patched but I still am unable to connect from the tablet. Am I missing a step somewhere. The tablet should be connecting now but it is not. Really frustrated with this and have spent a lot of time on it so far. I have tried it by computer name and by IP address both of which did not connect me. I know I am missing something somewhere.

I tried the computer name exactly as it is in control panel. domaine is the same. I am getting an error message that says make sure the name is correct and try again.

Just a couple of things come to mind:
1- you forgot to enable RDC on the laptop via control panel
Right-click on Computer from the Start Menu and select Properties.
Click Remote settings on the left.
Under Remote Desktop, select one of the three options.
2- you didn't install the download as an administrator (you need to right click and "run as an administrator)

If that doesn't work, I really don't know what is going on.

No one has mentioned firewall on Windows or port forwarding on the router yet...

when you install the download you need to right click the file and 'run as administrator'. Every application should allow you to 'run as administrator': 2013-11-03_2255

if it doesn't work try to download teamviewer on both machine, open it and it will tell you how to make device connection, easiest software to use.

Hi guys and thanks for all the help thus far.

OK so here is were I am at (no where yet) LOL

I have switched to splashtop now now as it is the only other option in the MS app store. It downloaded to the Surface 2 fine. I downloaded the streamer and set up the account with my email and PW.

Now trying to connect from the tablet in my house and the program on the tablet is saying it can't see the computer.

Mike you said something above about the firewall. I have a modem that has the router built in. In control panel under firewall there are no options to turn it off or anything for that matter. It just says to use the optimal setting or whatever. no other option are aval. Is my software corrupt in some way? Do I need to do something to the modem/router to get this spalshtop to work?

Still really stuck here.

TIA
