I'd like to possibly chart and paper trade some European and Asian index futures such as the FDAX and HSI, but MC said that I need to create their corresponding exchanges first though. While I see how to do that, some details are requested for which I'm not sure how to populate.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Just go to QuoteManager, and if you are using a dictionary like IQFeed then just add the instrument via the lookup command.

Mike, thank you. I am in QM. And here is the path I've taken to add other instruments, but it's not working for something such as the FDAX:

Instrument -> Add Symbol -> From Data Source -> Open E Cry

From within this new window I select the Futures tab and "Look-up" something such as FDAX.

It is found - FDAXM1 (June 17, 2011 expiration). Great. I then highlight, click to add, but get a warning window:

"You must create EUR exchange first".

I then go this route:

Tools -> Exchanges & ECN's

New window, select add, but not sure how to populate the correct data for the EUR.

If there is another, better way, I'd appreciate knowing...

If you have a EUREX already, use the same settings for EUR. It seems OEC uses an abbreviation.

It seems I am still having problems with MC7 beta 3. Twice I am having errors with incoming quotes not updating, which has never happened before in almost two years of using MC+DTN.

I also keep having a problem with it sending orders without the attached ATM strategy, and when I tell it to manually attach, it does nothing. Really frustrating that a saved workspace can't remember my selection to auto-attach my strategy.

Last, I started experiencing the unable to connect to TT error again. I did some troubleshooting and found that when I exit MC it is often not closing the fixserver.exe app it spawns, and it won't connect to it if it was spawned by a previous instance. This has come up because of all the times I've had to restart MC lately.

Mike, that did the trick, thank you. Trying to employ the same, if needed, for TW and NK in Asia...

Each data provider uses different abbreviations, and some change them constantly - that is why we built a flexible way to handle the names. There is no industry standard for naming the We added many exchanges, but sometimes (as in your case) the precise exchange is not there. What settings should be used for EUR? We don't actually know, we can only deduce based on the symbol and by asking the particular provider - we are in the same position as you are. Let's start the investigation...

Interactive Brokers, for instance, uses the Exchange abbreviation "DTB", which is already included in the list. Plus we also may know that we need the EUREX exchange, since that's where FDAX is traded. Then, we go to QuoteManager > Tools > Exchanges, find EUREX and click the Clone button. A dialog opens, and all you need to change is the Abbreviation field, from EUREX to EUR. All other fields will be already populated with correct info. After you click OK, you have created the EUR exchange and you can add your symbols.

1) Please forgive the basic question, but how can I change the actual width of the bars themselves to make the candles closer together? The first picture below is MC, the second is what I'd like to get it to look like. When I change the bar spacing, the bars automatically change a bit but I'd like to be able to keep the spacing the same, but increase the width of the actual bars.

2) There is currently no Time and Sales in MC DT correct? I heard there are plans for one, but can you give me an idea of when?

MC, thank you for the thoughtful reply. I did indeed use the clone feature for getting the EUR squared-away, and it worked well and I can trade the FDAX. Apparently OEC doesn't allow trading the TW and NK (SGX) in the demo account, as I just learned; so that would seem to be the problem right there. Thanks again for the clarification.

Josh,

1) You can not get it better. This is a limitation with MC. I have suggested an independent adjustment for the spacing only to support, but my impression is that it is not on the high priority list. You could do a feature request. I'll vote for it The best I have come up with is bar spacing 4 or 8.

2) It is a while ago I spoke to MC about it and I think they mentioned version 8 for implementing Time and Sales. If you had the licensed version I think there is a couple of indicators for it.

The download of Gomi's CD indicators from MultiCharts over in the Elite Circle is ok.

I have added a content list of the collection.
