Thanks @haljordan In the end I have decided to use Sierra for both my swing trading alongside my existing intraday trading. The volume profile capabilities of TOS are unfortunately not adequate for my needs. However I am planning on opening my swing trading account with TD Ameritrade, so ill use Sierra primarily but it will be nice to have TOS as a back up since they offer it free. TOS has some nice analytics which ill dig into. TOS is certainly a powerful platform with a lot of great features, so im certainly not knocking it. Their focus is simply not on profiling capabilities which I rely on heavily.

my pleasure...i was thinking about getting the IRT but being a part timer, i can't justify the 85 per month + 15 for backfill expense. if i were ever to change to full time trading, i'd definitely go with IRT.

tos data is aggregated where FT is using DTN IQFeed tick by tick data...hence the discrepancy.

TOS volume profile can be used just to check the shape of the profile and to mark important areas....But to use volume profile with precision like FT71 does, you absolutely have to use another platform and datafeed...

Monkey Bars the study will allow you to also use candles/ bars etc The study vs the chart type has more options Also, if you are wanting to use Volume Profile - do not trust it. TOS does not have true tick data, they receive it in blocks The nodes are not even close to being accurate at any setting -Bill

i respectfully disagree. yes ToS data is aggregated and there is certainly a discrepancy. although it is not exceedingly bad. i use ToS volume profiling on a regular basis with decent accuracy. i am usually off by a tick or two with FT's levels. and i watch his trader bites 99% of the time and in the process of moving my account to S5.

ToS is not good for volume profile. Their data is filtered also, so in any case it won't be accurate.

Something that I've noticed esp here recently

ToS total daily volume is not even close to what the CME reports
