I saw one yesterday when riding my bike. Didn't get a great look since it was in front of me, but it definitely stood out from the pack.

Tesla's first quarterly profit, the reason for this jump up, was entirely due to creative accounting on the books and not due to increased sales, lower costs, whathaveyou. Re Bloomberg West report. Beware!

Yes, electric cars do have environmental effects from their manufacturing, as all cars do, but beware the Exxon and other oil company sponsored research that discredits them. A city full of electric transport would be heaven, atmosphere-wise, and I look forward to owning an electric car in future.

Update: The Consumer Reports info below only drops 1 point out of 100 off when the large LCD screen in the car distracts the driver far too much from driving. Worse than a mobile phone possibly?? Sounds like a pump and dump scheme underway to me. Sorry!

That car would be a nice nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) prize.

I've been rooting for Tesla since the Roaster came out, and I have to say they exceeded my expectations with their Tesla S. I've seen several in person now and on the road, and they're absolutely beautiful. If I were to purchase a car around that price range I'd choose it over a 5 Series or E Class any day.

I think their warranty & service program is really going to help push them over the edge as far as exposure and happiness with the product. I don't have enough posts yet to post a link to it, but it really goes above and beyond.

One of my biggest worries with electric or hybrid vehicles is the reliability and extra service expense that they could incur if something were to go wrong. What they're essentially doing now is eliminating this concern, and creating a safety net for those who are skeptical since they are such a new company.

I think sales will start to close the gap with other luxury brands when they release their $30k-$35k vehicle.

Actually they just switched creditors. Instead of the US government now it is Goldman Sachs....

Did not see this thread before...thought I would chime in. I am a shareholder and reservation holder on their Model X. Like Mike, long term hold for me although my initial investment tripled in such a short time I could not resist taking some off the table when it hit 90 leaving my original investment intact.

GO TSLA!

Hope it goes to the moon. But I have a single word of caution: oil.
