So I don't care if the candle is filled or not (mine are all filled). All I'm concerned with is price and time.

I like this gold/yellow on gray, easy on the eyes (at least on my mobile it is). Similarly, I use a dark blue on yellowish background, hi low bars all the same color. Will post a chart when I get home.

I don't care about opens and closes, only the extremes, kind of like yours Massive. Darker areas here are overnight session.

Nice colors...curious why switch to gray from black? I'm also concerned with it being easy on my eyes, currently using standard red/green candles on black.

Do you think the color of a candle or bar affects certain people when trading? Here are two charts, one a standard red/green candle, and the other a black OHLC. Imagine that you had placed the lower blue line before the market open, and that you were looking to buy at or near the line. Would you have found it more difficult to buy if you saw the big red down candles? Compare that to the neutral, black OHLC. Does the OHLC chart, by its lack of color in this case, present a generally more neutral perspective? Is it easier to buy after a big down bar (often the best time to buy) if you don't see a lot of red? Conversely, is it easier to sell after a big up bar if you aren't seeing green? More generally speaking, how does the color of various chart components affect our trading, if at all?

Thanks for this @josh . Surprisingly i felt the difference looking at the two charts. Recently changed to black background because the white was burning my eyes, but I might have to experiment with more muted colors.

You are very welcome. I have experimented with black backgrounds, and time and time again I find that my eyes hurt when looking at white text or drawings, or even most colors against the black background. I have done a RGB of about 50,50,50 which is much better. And white can be too bright, but sometimes the monitor is too bright and itself can be adjusted to make it more comfortable. The chart you quoted here is a yellow-ish background that is the most soothing color to my eyes, though currently I have all white which is actually quite nice when the brightness is toned down.

The thread was about colors of the bars themselves primarily; I find myself more naturally emotionally even and calm when using a single color for up and down bars. Since I don't use bar values themselves anyway (OHLC) then an up bar is equivalent to a down bar for me, so there is no need to differentiate using colors between the two (in fact, I rarely use anything but hilo bars anyway so I wouldn't know the close of the bar if I wanted to).
