Yes, you can use C# DLL's in EasyLanguage.

If you look towards the end of the thread " Educated by Randomness" I have an example of using an external function in a DLL within EasyLanguage.

Just a note in case anyone else pulls some hair out over this, like I just did.

You cannot simply upgrade from MultiCharts 32-bit to MultiCharts 64-bit. It is not plug 'n play or seamless. The databases are not compatible with each other.

To their credit, this is documented on their site... if you bother to RTFM before you run into headaches (unlike me)...

How to Backup User Data - MultiCharts

So long story short, you need to Export all your data from QuoteManager, then import it on the new 64-bit version. Unfortunately, that is proving difficult for me because the QuoteManager export crashes on me when I try to export all my data at once (over 7,000 symbols). So I am having to break it down into smaller batches in order to get it to work. Most people won't have this problem I suspect.

Then for studies, you have to go to PowerLanguage Editor and Export all studies, functions, indicators, signals. Then on the 64-bit build you'll import that file.

For workspaces, the files should be compatible (haven't got that far yet).

BTW, a couple days ago during the last MultiCharts webinar, Stan mentioned they were considering allowing C# natively in the editor (so eliminating requirement for external DLL). I highly suggest you contact MultiCharts and encourage this, if it is important to you.

I just wanted to say congrats to the @MultiCharts dev team. I've been using MC 8 beta 1 x64 for a couple days, and everything is working extremely well --- with one exception. That exception was the migration process, or lack thereof.

I would like to see MultiCharts offer a migration tool with MC8 x64 that exports the old MC7 x86 quote data, symbology, templates, workspaces, indicators, signals, functions, etc and imports them into MC8 as a seamless part of the MC8 install process. While I was able to do this manually, I know that for many users it will be a major roadblock.

We have developed a tool that reduces database size by cleaning the deleted records and makes your 32 bit data bases compatible with MultiCharts 64 bit. Please refer to this page for more information.

C# on MultiCharts... this sounds good I see comming a common wrapper framework with nearly compatible emulated classes&types for (indicator)code convert... A "simple" way for recode/convert of NT7 custom bartypes and indicators with custom plot functions on/for MC8 is a nice target

I have been using 64 bit MC 8.0 Beta 2 without problems until today. I just upgraded to TWS build 924.3a and Multicharts will no longer connect to Interactive Brokers.

Multicharts response in their forum is "The issue with TWS version 924.3a is confirmed. We are working on it already. At the moment we recommend to roll back to the previous TWS version."

For me, this solution was insufficient. I also had to switch back to MC version 7.4.

Faster than the Silver Surfer, MC has provided the hot fix for version 7.4 and 8.0 to work with the recent TWS build 924.3a.

And it works.
