I have some things I want to do in Excel, some simple things actually. I have used it for other projects before, basic stuff.

First, you know how typically you can start any box off with a "=" symbol, and have it do something in that cell. Can you also draw say a border and fill based on some formula as well?

How do you enter a formatting of a cell based on some other cell value?

Try this menu/area as I think it will do what you want.

You can always write a macro or program within as well but more difficult.

Ok right... but the problem is this......

I have a macro I made that does some of what I want. That is what I want at the end, is to get my sheet the way I want, then create the macro that will do it.

But for now, I need to figure out how to tell this thing to color/fill/border values in a column based on some other data.

Ok, well I am no expert and haven't done anything like that in a while so I would be wasting your time..

Can you post a picture explaining of what you want/need? Other then conditional formatting as Bluemele already stated, a lot can be done by creative combinations of simple formulas.

I agree, there is not a lot that can't be done with conditional formatting.
Although I wouldn't call myself an excel wizard, I'm always happy to help...

Thanks for replies fellas.

Got a bit of help from @vegasfoster in the chatbox. I should be able to do most of what I want and record a macro for it now.

I will post back if I run into an issue.

Developed some tools to create a book a'la Taylor.

I got enough done in excel to make most of what I want happen.

Have a NT script that will write data. As now, I have to manually put the exported data into an excel sheet copy that into my TT Book, and it will develop the book. At that point one can look at the data however they choose.

In the pics below.....

First pic: ss of the data the script creates, you can see the output window

Second pic: ss of the blank excel sheet with all the formulas in it

Third pic: ss of the sheet after pasting the data from the NTscript Output in the sheet.

As is now, I have the sheet more or less exactly in the same format as the sheet Taylor made in his book from the 1950s.

So nothing special, just a somewhat cool tool. It will allow the user to quickly create a book on any instrument they have in NT. Also to be able to go back and look at a book historically on any timeframe as long as you have data in NT for it.

Not sure if I want to put anymore time into it to make it a bit more user friendly, as I don't trade with it, but developed it.... cause it's cool.

Anyone know of any good tutorials on how to manage data you create that you want to sort? Just basics would be helpful.

I.e. using tables, or PowerPivot?
