I concur Big Mike...Fighter was a pointless movie that took away 2hrs of my life, as was Margin Call, as was Wall Street 2.

Although I finished watching Wall Street 2 for the second time this week - in my defense it was only because of the lovely Carey Mulligan and Brian Eno / David Byrne's memorable score of Home....a song that is staying in my head. The rest of the movie was Hollywood garbage (Brian and David also scored for the original which was just as good)

Then I watched Watt Street 1, partly to see how far Oliver Stone had changed as a director. It's almost as if a different man had made the original.

Granted the original still had typical Hollywwod BS - typical glib lines, and pointless characterizations of Wall Street with needless focus on bimbos as leading ladies (why were there women in this movie at all?) and needless focus on "stuff", on paintings, cars, houses, and other meaningless material things. As if that was a measure of achievement.

But in the end, despite its flaws, the original had a message about being a good story filled with things like Darwinism and doing the right thing in the end and simply being more "human". A conflicted story that drives me to think it was a classic movie about humans and relationships.

Other than that, all new movies simply SUCK. I can't even be bothered to watch anything new. The last few movies I watched and recommend are The Social Network, V for Vendetta (one of my all time favorites) and Dark Knight from recent memory (the original Matrix, maybe). Obviously all movies about the wondrous conflicts that torture us humans, and how our relationships and our nature can tell us wonderful and meaningful stories. Stuff that we can teach our children. Stuff with meaning. Stuff we can simply enjoy. Stuff with equal measure of bravado, color, gusto, humility, frailty and character.

To call 99% of the Hoyllwod movies "art" is an insult to human intelligence in my opinion. Of course, I guess I need to watch more independent movies, I am sure there are more meaningful and enjoyable stories being told there.

But seriously, watch these two famous clips. Tell me this does not make you stop and think. Because this is why I want to watch a movie - to think and to enjoy a good story. Maybe I am just "off" in my head a little bit

Watched Immortals recently, really enjoyed it. A good action movie. And apparently a sequel may be in the works...

Watched "We Bought a Zoo". Man enough to admit I really liked this movie. Scarlett Johansson is easy on the eyes, and Matt Damon did his typical great job. Also really enjoyed the whole story, and thought the entire movie was executed with perfection.

Highly recommended.

the last good movie I watched was called "the man from earth". it was filmed in 2007, so it's a bit old already, but those of you who haven't seen it will be in for a nice treat should you decide to watch it.

it's about a prehistorical Neanthethal man who somehow survived all those millions of years and finally decided to tell his story to a group of friends, (you can imagine the kind of reception he's going to get). his was truly a mind-boggling story. and at the end of it you'd at least give him the benefit of the doubt if not already convinced that he was telling the truth, no matter how ridiculous some of his claims might have sounded like. the ending was a bit overly dramatic to my taste, but overall it was one of the most enjoyable film I've ever watched, and it answered quite a few historical puzzles very nicely, such as, the origin of Jesus Christ, etc. I must stop here, so as not to give too many details away
