Big Mike View Post
Just watched " Eight Below".

Hang on, something in my eye.

OK that's better.

A very good Disney film, great story. Highly recommended.

Mike

I liked it too, my ma's cousin did the sound for that movie

Neither of these movies are new or even very recent, but recently watched them again and got to re-remember how much I like them:

Memento (2000)

Without Limits (1998)

There's not much CGI going on here, but a strong character driven movie:
Rabbit Hole (2010)

For a little more action, I dig:
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)

Over the years, I've realized I like a lot of Denzel's work, including his portrayal of Frank Lucas:
American Gangster (2007)

All kinds of fun stuff here:
Heat (1995)

Not a big Tom Cruise fan, but I do enjoy the hell out of this flick:
Collateral (2004)

Classic Jean Reno
Leon: The Professional (1994)

I gotta stop. We could be here all night. And day. And night. But before I go, I'm pretty sure it's illegal for me to conclude any movie recommendation list without including:
The Big Lebowski (1998)

Some good and some wonderful (imo) films from French cinema.
These are going back a bit.

The "stuff" of hope, tragedy, love, regret revenge etc..etc..
In two parts:
Jean De Florette

and
Manon de Source

Some fun:
Amelie

Loves twists and turns:
L'Apartement

Betty Blue

Some excellent movies recommended here, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned Fight Club. That's one of the best movies made in my lifetime. It works on so many levels, and I see it as a rather deep treatment of nihilism in modern form.

I'm glad to see Leon mentioned, though. That was one of my favorite movies growing up. I was 12 when it came out, and it made a lasting impression on me.

re: "Eight Below"

I enjoyed that movie too and totally understand about getting things in the eyes while watching it Huskies are just amazing in that they like snow and can sleep on or in it. While it freezes the skin off humans and most other animals.

The original Japanese movie of the true 1958 scenario:

(warning: still a movie about the dogs, but >not< a disney tone or ending)

I was lately pleasantly surprised by Ink (2009) - IMDb . Do not understand the low rating.

The Big Blue.

Watched "21 Jump Street".

21 Jump Street (2012) - IMDb

What a horrible movie.

A couple of LOL moments, but I should have trusted my instinct and turned off the movie about 10 minutes into it.

How this movie has a 7.5 rating is beyond me. I like Jonah Hill as much as the next guy, but this movie just sucked.

Mike
