Not too much in "The Losers" I didn't like.

Have to be into A Team from the 70's.

The Hobbit: huge disappointment. It was boring and an uninteresting story, far too repetitive with LOTR in general. Just miserable. And I am a huge sci-fi fan and a big LOTR fan.

Solaris (2002): Was told it was a good sci-fi flick. Turned it off after 30 minutes, it was so incredibly boring and waste of time.

Robot & Frank: Was mildly entertaining.

Best in Show (2000): Lots of famous people. Really slow and boring story. Some good laughs.

Am hoping that "This is 40" will be funny, "Zero Dark Thirty" will be suspenseful, "Lincoln" will be dramatic, and "Hitchcock" will be thrilling. Not sure when I'll see them but they are next on the list. Also Argo and Skyfall, have not forgot about you.

Sorry to hear about your viewing of the Hobbit Big Mike. Yes, it was the original first book about Middle Earth that Tolkien published about 15 years before LOTR. Originally a children's story. If you ever happen upon the book, I think you'll find it a great read. Ever since Tolkien was in WWI he reportedly started drafting his world of Middle Earth during the trench warfare where one of his jobs was to caretake for the cavalry horses. And as a student he belonged to a club of students who studied folklore/religious literature where most of his pals had died in the war so Tolkien was said to have "carried on" the mythology for the rest of them. Unfortunately it seems the studios wanted Jackson to stretch the the Hobbit into three movies. When it should have been the other way around with LOTR stretched to six movies since so much was left out. Also due to the Tolkien Estate pretty upset that they wasted their royalty rights on the LOTR movie/rotoscoped cartoon which bombed in the 70's. So they weren't allowing Jackson to have the rights to the Silmarillion and the other 10 or so ancillary books which fleshes out Middle Earth over 6000 years. So Jackson could only use the Hobbit and LOTR appendices in the Hobbit movie. However there is much more to come in the next two movies and I believe Jackson saved the best for the next two. For example Ragadast is only mentioned in LOTR and the ancillary works. He was never mentioned in the Hobbit book. In fact Ragadast sent the eagle, Gwahir to rescue Gandalf from Isengard in FOTR. But they just showed the flying moth which I guess worked well in the FOTR movie but became too repetitive in the Hobbit.

I haven't seen Solaris (2002) ; heard it's a remake of the original cult sci-fi movie of the same name from the 70's which I haven't seen either.

Watched "This Is 40" and found it pretty funny and not the usual predictable nonsense for this genre.

re: "White House Down"

I was hoping it was the same director, Ridley Scott, as "Black Hawk Down" (2001),
then saw it was Roland Emmerich

director of:

Universal Soldier ( /w Jean Claude Van Damme & Dolph Lundgren)
Stargate (Kurt Russell)
Independence Day (Jeff Goldblum, Will Smith)
Godzilla ( Matthew Broderick)
The Patriot ( Mel Gibson )
Day After Tomorrow (Dennis Quaid , Ian Holm (Alien(1979) as the android, Bilbo in LOTR & Hobbit) )
10,000 B.C.
2012
Anonymous

The Day After (1985) ~ "Day After Tomorrow"
"White House Down" ~ "Black Hawk Down"

But would be fun to see the "secret cabal" make it's move and exposed in this movie!
