I have just gotten back to my trading computers after some time away (health challenges), and am in the process of fully transitioning to Ninja 7. I have a couple of indicators that are requiring more work than expected to get them to compile on N7, and now realize that my alerts in sound directory are not working. I am running the 64 bit version of Windows 7, and the 32 bit version of Ninja 7. I found info on the Ninja forum that says that these files need to be converted .wav to .pcm (I should have just come here first), and then found the information on this thread. Can someone confirm for me the format that these files need to be converted to, and if possible a link to a freeware converter. I have spent a fair amount of time online looking at converters, but want to make sure that I convert the files to the proper format, and most efficiently. I use a number of alerts, and do not want to re-record all of them.

Many thanks, and appreciate all that this forum provides.

wav/MPEG and wav/PCM are both .wav files. I have done the conversion with the Windows XP Audio Recorder. For unknown reasons the Windows Vista Audio Recorder and later recorders cannot do this conversion anymore, so you need to use available freeware.

One of them can be found here (not tested):

I use Audacity ( Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder) and do some basic editing and manipulation sometimes.

The notebook has Vista. No problems so far. Good enough. You do not need artillery to hunt woodchucks, otherwise you might - intentionally or unintentionally - have a war. Or what are the Koreans doing?

Remember to turn off your speakers if you have them on your system during the overnight...

I had a doorbell, I think it was TS Supertrend, and at 3AM the damn thing signaled, wakes the wife up and I'm standing at the front door looking to see who it is... It was the Asian close

LOL. Really good point.

for converting files use Zamzar - video converter, audio converter, image converter, eBook converter. No software required

I found some cool high quality cash register sounds on this website Freesound.org - tags

Searching the web I found this useful. Now I can create specific sound files letting me know ON WHICH CHART TYPE AND WHAT TYPE OF ALARM IT IS.

Text 2 Speech
eg. Long signal on Renko chart.

Quality of the output (speaker) is not perfect but already helps to identify quicker which chart sends signal - or annoys me at the time and needs to be disabled.

If anyone can recommend website with better output quality, please post it here.

Cheers!

@romus,

Here's one that generates .wav files and sound a little less like the 'computer voice' in the link you posted:

Text2Speech - Convert Text to Speech, Text to Mp3, Text to Wav

After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!

Hi @Wizard,
I have visited this one but I do not know what he/she says afterwards (there is somnething else always after the spoken text - have you noticed it?)

Some of the sites are quite good but usually in .mp3 so there is extra task in converting the files.

Anyway, thank you for your response and fantastic input to the forum.

Wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and good health and prosperity in New Year!

Cheers!
