Hello all! I'm not sure an introduction is necessary but I'm starting a new journal in the elite section after journaling, non-elite, for about 6 months now. I chronicled my shenanigans here: Salao's Journal--Skiff on the Gulf Stream (. A regrettably cheesy title for a journal. But, what can I say, I'm a huge f#@$ing cheese ball! It's an homage to Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea
. It's a story about an old Cuban fisherman whom hasn't caught a fish for over forty days:
The story is about the old man catching the hugest marlin ever. The fish should have overpowered him and got away, but the old man used his experience and guile and was able to catch him. However, the fish was SO big that he was unable to load him onto his skiff and he had to tow the beast back to shore. As the old man towed the fish back, it was torn apart by sharks. It's a great story and I was able to draw parallels to trading.
BUT I'm not an old man, and I consider myself pretty lucky! I just enjoy a nautical theme. And, like the old man, I have at times felt completely and utterly, salao.
I've been swing trading stocks for 10 years but have only traded futures for about 6 months and mostly on SIM. I've tried a few different strategies but I have gravitated toward Brooks Price Action as this style of trading has dovetailed nicely with what I have seen looking at charts all these years. I'm a beginner and I make all the classic beginner mistakes. Like all on FIO, I'm eager to learn.
I trade around my work schedule which means sometimes I'm able to trade for a better part of the day, sometimes only for an hour or so and sometimes not at all. It depends how busy I am...how tight the leash is...that type of thing. I currently trade 1 or 2 lots on MES. My stops are probably a little wide at times and I'm probably too willing to scale in with my second lot but this has suited me...SO FAR. Most my mistakes, as far as I can see, are due to beginner myopia. But that's the program at this point.
I keep a journal for the accountability and because I enjoy talking trading. My experience on FIO has been awesome and I'm super stoked to be a part of the community! Trade well all!
