Romney was the only mainstream Republican...
Romney was the only mainstream Republican candidate who wasn't too far to the right on the 'social conservative' side to have a chance to be elected and, also had a pretty solid business background....

There's a pretty good argument out there that since QE doesn't create jobs and tends to put upwards pressure on the pricing of everything, it'll end up hurting consumers, whose vote that would sway....
