I merely use it to have a quick glance to gauge...
I merely use it to have a quick glance to gauge volatility and also to see how big the bar is so as to do some quick math in my head to determine my profit target and stop loss(max $ loss).

I have to agree, not only candlestick knowledge, i believe Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by John Magee and Robert D. Edwards is a good book to go along with al brooks price action books.
