Personally I obtained the beta version of Windows 10 a long time ago, which came with a license key. Then they migrated me to the "Insider" program where they gave me a new permanent license key.

Normally IB Gateway loads on startup on my machine. Then I shut down Windows for whatever reason, install updates, etc, and Windows is what closes...
