Also note that the order will be filled at market if price is below p1. You may want to think about this if you are dealing with daily bars. Maybe you need a stop-limit order.

Considering that HFT has success rate above 95% we should know the answer. But I think intraday trend followers can live with lower success rate in the order of 50%.

Good answer. I have been doing many tests and it appears that the sample size depends on actually on itself. meaning that the sample size depends on the quality of sample and not on quantity.
